Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca is a mafia boss in the Vatican. He appears in the zombie map Mob of the Dead
Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca is a playable character in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. He appears in the zombies map, Mob of the Dead. He is also mentioned by Edward Richtofen on the Gorod Krovi Call of Duty: Black Ops III map.
Before Sal was imprisoned on Alcatraz Island, he was heavily involved in gambling, prostitution and alcohol distribution, and used the money he received from it to build his own mob. His mob had been active since at least 1922 and participated in turf wars, as evidenced by one of his citations. He rarely became involved in any kind of violence and hired Billy Handsome to deal with his enemies.
Nevertheless, on June 13, 1932, he was sent to Alcatraz with the rest of the gangsters and tried to escape via Icarus, a makeshift plane invented by Albert Arlington, but the prison was overrun by the zombies. While he and the others tried their best to fight them off, Arlington and Michael “Finn” O’Leary were both surrounded and slaughtered. Sal and Billy ran, but Sal closed a gate behind him before Billy got through, leaving him to his fate. His own karmic death, however, came from a surprise attack by another group of zombies and so joined the time-warped Afterlife as did his teammates.
However, the audio logs in the Easter Egg “Weaselflink” show that the plan actually never happened and that Icarus was never built, as the three gangsters argued over complications and abandoned Arlington’s plan. Feeling betrayed, they created makeshift weapons and lured Arlington to the roof. Then they brutally murdered him and left him to bleed to death on the roof.
For this, Finn, Billy and Sal were sentenced to death via the electric chair, which was witnessed on January 19, 1934. During Easter Eggs, Sal and the others again learn of the failed plan and attempt to kill Arlington once more. If they succeed, “the cycle continues” and the events of Mob of The Dead restart. If Weasel kills the other three, “the cycle is broken” and Sal, Finn and Billy die forever, while Weasel is released.
Personality
Sal considers himself the leader of the group, though he can’t really control the situation. He comes to his own conclusions about the events that are occurring, claiming that he must be in a coma because Arlington ate one of his drinks. Sal was friendly with Stanley Ferguson and many of his comments to Ferguson imply that he feels guilty for killing him. Sal is perhaps the “gangster” of the four and speaks in an almost stereotypical gangster accent while using a lot of slang..
Status
At the end of Weaselflink Easter Egg, Sal, Billy, and Finn can either kill Weasel, or Weasel can kill them. Should Weasel die, then “the cycle continues” and the gangsters must repeat the events of Mob of the Dead again. Should Sal, Billy, and Finn die, then “the cycle is broken,” which means that the story can progress. For this reason, Weasel is alive when the events of Mob of the Dead finally end and the other three gangsters are dead.
Appearance
Sal has been the leader of the mafia since 1922 and is the oldest of the group with visible wrinkles and obvious hair loss. He wears the standard prison uniform with 386A on the top right of his shirt. His hair (or what is of it) is straight and black and he is covered in blood like the other gangsters. He appears to have darker skin compared to the others.
Info
• In the intro, Sal holds his python left-handed, but during the game he holds all his weapons with his right hand. This hints at the possibility that he could be ambidextrous.
• Sal prefers submachine guns like the M1927 and the Uzi.
• Sal likes Billy and Finn, but dislikes Arlington.
• Sal’s convict number is “386A.”
• In the trailer for Origins, a vial of blood carried by Edward Richtofen with the cell number written on it can be seen, along with another vial with Finn’s convict number “481B”. Both of these vials can be seen on Richtofen’s player model.
• Sal believes that Brutus is Stanley Ferguson.
• He often quotes nursery rhymes like Humpty Dumpty.
• In the opening scene, Sal walks through the door to get away from the zombies, to which he leaves Billy, and goes to the recreation garden, which is not a place the player can visit in the game.
• In Gorod Krovi, after activating an electric trap, Edward Richtofen can mention Sal by saying, “Ah, an old favorite, execution followed by electrocution!”. Ahh, rest in peace Sal.”
Heroes (Call of Duty)
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
