Sergeant Paul Jackson was a member of the 1st Reconnaissance Command of the USMC and was one of the main protagonists in the first act of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. He was under the command of General Shepherd and Vasquez.
Biography
Sgt. Paul Jackson and the USMC’s first Force Recon were sent to the Middle East in search of Khaled Al-Asad. They entered the country in numerous Black Hawks. Jackson’s platoon, led by Lt Vasquez, landed in a coastal town and penetrated the local OpFor headquarters where they believed Al-Asad was hiding. After searching the HQ unsuccessfully, the squad was notified that Al-Asad was broadcasting at a TV station not far from their position. The Marines fought their way through the town, where they encountered easily eliminated OpFor resistance. At the station, Lt Vasquez assigned him, SSgt Griggs and a few others to storm the recording room. Unfortunately, Al-Asad was not there and the Marines went out to continue the search.
USMC troops continued their advance toward the capital in further pursuit of Al-Asad. Lt. Vasquez given orders to protect an Abrams tank – with call sign “War Pig” which was stuck in a bog. The Marines moved out and managed to pin down OpFor troops in an abandoned building and eliminate tanks and infantry moving along an overpass. They managed to reach “War Pig” and withstood the OpFor assault. Vasquez requested air support, but his request was denied due to a ZPU nearby. Jackson destroyed the ZPU, allowing two Cobras to arrive and eleminate the enemy. A few hours later, War Pig managed to escape from the marsh and provided support for the Marines. They went through the town and (with War Pig’s help) reached the LZ for extraction.
Jackson was then part of the force that attacked the capital to capture Khaled Al-Asad. He was the MK19 gunner aboard a Sea Knight helicopter – call sign “Outlaw 2-5” – and provided air support for Abrams tanks attempting to reach the city limits. Jackson also eliminated resistance around the DOD, cleaned out an LZ for the troops, and the ground offensive began. Lt. Vasquez was ordered by the commander to advance further into the city and extract a group of Marines. They managed to help the Marines with the help of a Cobra, call sign “Deadly.” After the discovery of a live nuclear warhead in the center of the city, it was recommended by Command that Jackson and his squad move to a position outside the danger radius. However, “Deadly” was shot down and Jackson’s team decided to land and rescue the pilot. They managed to get her out.
Just as they were about to leave the city, the nuclear bomb was detonated and all the helicopters which were in the air at that time, including Paul Jackson’s, crashed. The majority died on impact, including Paul’s commander Lt. Vasquez. Paul survived the crash, but died moments later from his injuries. Sgt. Paul Jackson was one of the 30,000 soldiers who laid down their lives under General Shepherd’s command, as revealed in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Their deaths are the reason why Shepherd wants his revenge on Russia and himself doesn’t hesitate to betray and kill his most trusted and best unit, Task Force 141.
