Leslie Baron was a Canadian soldier from Call of Duty 3.
Biography
Leslie Baron was born in Calgary, Canada in 1924. At the time of World War II, he served in the 4th Canadian Armored Division. He was under the command of Lieutenant Jean-Guy Robiechauld there. Call of Duty 3 confirmed four missions of him in France.
August 1, 1944 – Tilly la Champagne
Leslie’s first confirmed deployment was to Tilly la Champagne on August 1, 1944. Her mission: to secure the launch and the town. Baron always had difficulty firing his weapon, but not because of faults in the weapon, but because of fear of killing people. Despite this fear, Baron fired, though not often, and he and his squad were able to secure an old hangar that held enough ammunition to destroy enemy tanks and partially secure the town.
August 14, 1944 – Laison
After the Battle of Tilly la Champagne, Baron and his squad went to the Laison River near Falaise. Their task was to secure the river and the houses, as there were guns hiding behind them. On the way to the houses they also had to destroy some guns. When the first guns were on fire, the squad could advance further and march to the said house. Robiechauld instructed Leslie that he might as well fire his gun sometime since he was at war, but to this statement Baron only replied, “I’m a radio operator, so I have to make sure the radio is safe.” After a few difficulties, the Canadians were finally able to capture the house and the surrounding area and advance on to St. Lamber-sur-Dives.
August 20, 1944 – St. Lamber-sur-Dives & Mount Ormel
St. Lamber-sur-Dives
Baron’s squad was sent to St. Lamber-sur-Dives to protect the tanks there and destroy the enemy camp so that Canadian troops could support the Poles at Hill 262. When the enemy camp was secured, Callard was able to destroy it, even if he had to sacrifice himself. Baron was sent forward to Hill 262 after this engagement to let the Poles know that Canadian reinforcements would soon appear.
Mount Ormel (Hill 262)
Immediately after arriving at Mount Ormel, Baron made his way to the last known location of the Poles. When he encountered them there, the Polish troops were about to withdraw, but Baron wanted to prove his mettle and tried to hold the position, which eventually cost him his life, as he was fatally shot by a German sniper.
