Heroes Call of Duty – Josefina Menendez

is a non-playable character in Black Ops II. She is mentioned by Raul Menendez throughout the campaign.

Josefina was the sister of Raul Menendez In 1973 she and her brother, were trapped in a barn, torched by an American due to an insurance scam ; when they opened a barn door, a separated from the non-burning section they were in, the rush of oxygen fueled the flame caused a firestorm that horribly burned and disfigured them. Josefina became for Raul the purpose of his life and because of his wealth, which he raised through the manufacture and sale of drugs, Raul took care of her until September 25, 1986.
On that day, several PDF soldiers under the command of Manuel Noriega broke into the Menendez villa and restrained Raul, while one of the soldiers, seeing Josefina deformity, threw her to the ground. Enraged by this, Raul brutally murdered the soldier but was subsequently restrained by two soldiers and a third injected him with something after which he became unconscious.
Josefina was kept in the house. One hears her screams from the house, Raul who woke up again was confronted by Manuel Noriega. When Noriega freed Raul, Raul lunged at Noriega and knocked him out. Shortly after, he ran through the village in the direction of Josefina, and when he reached the burning hallway where her room was, he was confronted by Hudson, Woods, and Mason. The angry Woods threw a grenade that went off course, bouncing off the wall and into the room where Josefina was. Raul, who wanted to save Josefina, ran after the grenade, but the grenade exploded first. Josefina died in the explosion, but Raul survived and managed to escape, thanks to Noriega. Fueled by Josefina’s death, Raul’s desire for revenge against America grew.
The golden medallion Raul is often seen with belonged to his sister Josefina. The opening sequence shows a young Raul in the burning barn with Josefina, about to slit his throat with the medallion. Menedez later in life uses the medallion as a weapon to take revenge for his Josefina.
