Biography

Born and raised on the outskirts of Cleveland, Pvt. Smith was always a skilled craftsman. His father worked in a bank while his mother worked as an elementary school teacher. But John wasn’t happy until he got to fix machines. Long before the war in Europe, Smith had been a mechanic with an artillery division, where he spent years repairing rifles and vehicles. The 1st Infantry needed reinforcements, however, and he suddenly found himself on the battlefield without a single day of basic . At the start of the war, John Jackson was just 28 years old and in good shape. But in the time he spent repairing machinery, he got a little rounder.
Schmitty joined Fox Company as a replacement for the late Victor Denley.
