General Info

Frank Woods was born on March 20, 1930, and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He ran away from his home as a young child, forced to rely on street smarts and follow his instincts. Woods quickly learned to be fully independent.

He served in the United States Marine Corps, during which he had much combat experience fighting in the Korean War. This gained him a reputation that led the CIA to recruit him for their Special Activities Division.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Woods appears in the very first story of Alex Mason, he tells that his assassination group consisting of him, Woods and Bowman was set on Fidel Castro and therefore sent to Cuba. Castro, however, suspected this and used his duble to have the latter killed if the assassins succeeded in getting through to “him”. Woods and Bowman escaped, but Mason remained behind and was taken to a labor camp in Workuta. Upon his return to the United States, Op 40 disbanded and split up.

Bowman and Brooks formed Team Whiskey, while Woods and Mason also joined forces. These two teams, in turn, formed SOG, in which he took the lead. The four soldiers were sent on a mission shortly after Mason’s escape to inspect the work of Gregori Weaver. Unfortunately, the latter was captured and tortured and interrogated by Lev Kravchenko, Nikita Dragovich’s right-hand man. With the help of Russian uniforms, Woods and Mason managed to penetrate deeper into enemy ranks and storm a building. The Whiskey team distracted the soldiers, allowing Woods and Mason to free Weaver and retrieve the missiles from the sky, which was actually Weaver’s goal.

A short time later, Woods meets Jason Hudson in Vietnam. So the team of Woods and Mason got a new addition from the CIA. After the positions near the woods were attacked, the soldiers of the SOG had to destroy the enemy’s troops back.

Woods was almost killed in the battle if Mason hadn’t drawn his revolver. So it was on to a small jeep by which the three got in and destroyed the six approaching tanks.

After the battle of Vietnam, they continued via helicopter toward Laos, but the helicopter was shot down near a village in Mission Victor Charlie and landed in a small lake. The pilots died but Woods and Mason survived. After teaming up with Team “Whiskey”, they get reinforcements and are able to raid the village. Swift, Reznov (as a conceit by Mason’s mind) and Mason

advanced through the underground tunnels to Kravchenko’s hideout only to find it abandoned. Woods comes to the aid of Mason, who is now alone after Woods was stabbed.

Jason Hudson plans the next mission right after that, a plane with Nova 6 on board has been by the CIA and has crashed near a river in a forest. Woods and his squad head there to take a closer look at the situation. After the Viet Cong carried out an ambush, the SOG soldiers had to fight their way through. Without a single casualty, the soldiers made it to the crash site and immediately walked into another ambush. Two Hinds get to the same altitude and shoot at the plane, which comes crashing down the hill in the blink of an eye. Bowman and Woods lie unconscious on the ground and are being carried away by Dragovich’s men when Mason wakes up and tries to shoot at them, but his pistol has no bullets left in the magazine or barrel. The three are taken to a small off-site facility, while the rest of the SOG moves directly to Kravchenko’s facility in Laos.

Woods, Mason and Bowman were forced to play Russian roulette, but Bowman refused and is brutally murdered. Because of this, Woods takes his turn next and swears to his opponents they will pay for Bowman’s death. With a skillful maneuver by Mason and Woods, they are able to kill the soldiers present, only Bowman’s killer was able to escape for the time being. The two run through the entire facility until they are finally able to find and hunt down Bowman’s killer. Woods responds to his death by saying, “THIS, is for Bowman!” Woods and Mason then escape via Hind and fly towards Kravchenko’s facility. On the way there, they are attacked by some Hinds and also have to eliminate the bridges, ground guns and tanks on the ground. After successfully arriving at the facility and freeing the remaining members, they continue to Kravchenko, who already “welcomes” Mason with a chair. Woods “sacrifices” himself and stabs Kravchenko in the back with his knife and he immediately ignites his grenades. Woods shifted very quickly jumps out the window with Kravchenko. As of this moment he is presumed dead, however the grenades fell off in mid-air and both were only slightly injured. This was his last appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

On February 19, 1968, he disappeared for a short time along with his squad after being presumed dead. His team and he were captured and tortured. The bodies and Woods were placed on a ship in a container. The CIA, in particular Jason Hudson, hired an old comrade of Frank Woods to free him. After Jason Hudson and

Alex Mason find out the whereabouts of the said ship with the help of Jonas Savimbi, they free Woods from the container. Woods was the last survivor from his team. He was eventually rescued by Mason, Hudson and Savimbi.

After the rescue, the team moves on to the desert where Alex Mason, who has since had a child, happens to find an old acquaintance, Kravchenko. After Woods could not control himself after questioning him, he shot Kravchenko and is betrayed along with Mason and Tian Zhao by Kravchenko’s secret allies and abandoned tied up in the desert. However, hikers come by and are able to free the three. After Kravchenko’s death in Afghanistan, the SOG hunt for Raul Menendez, a leader of a small cartel. Allied soldiers captured Menedez, but he was freed by Manuel Noriega, who escapes.

Woods, Mason and Hudson must now pursue Menendez and eventually come to a final showdown in a burning mansion. Woods throws an M67 grenade, but it is easily deflected by Mason, causing it to land off two door frames in Josefina’s (Menendez’s sister) room, killing her. From this point on, Menedez wants revenge

and wants Frank Woods dead as well. One day, Menendez captures Hudson and forces him to betray Woods and onto Mason, who is also taken and has a bag over his head. Woods and Noriega are on the other side on a house and Woods shoots Mason thinking it was Menendez.

Woods is able to shoot Mason twice in foot or once in the head. Following this, Woods smells a rat and sees the bloodied Mason on the ground and tries to kill Noriega. However, Mendendez saves him and shoots Woods in the knees. This is also the reason why Woods has to sit in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Anyway, Woods, David Mason, and Hudson are now held in a small room and Menendez lets Hudson decide who should die, him, David, or Woods, after a few moments he decides for himself and sacrifices himself for the two. Woods keeps telling David stories of Menendez and his father Alex in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Woods can also be killed by Menendez if David just captures him. By making the right choices, Woods, David and his father can eventually be reunited.

Call of Duty

The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
