Forest Dwellers are new enemies from Call of Duty: Black Ops II that only appear on the TranZit map. They only appear in the fog and don’t give you any points when you kill them, also they don’t leave any power-up after their death.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
The forest dwellers have low health and can be killed before they jump towards a player. Their health after jumping is about the same on a scale as zombies from the early rounds. If a forest dweller is sitting on a player’s head, it takes five knife wounds to kill it, but only two with the taser knuckles and three with the bowie knife. The forest dweller on your head doesn’t directly hurt the player like zombies do, but if you don’t get it down fast enough, you die instantly, with Juggernog having no effect either. You can also have another player shoot it off your head. A player with a forest dweller on his head can still run and dodge zombies. Nevertheless, you run much slower, even Stamin-Up doesn’t help with that. When you are on the bus, they do not attack, but you should be careful, because various objects in the environment are so low that you could fall off the vehicle.
Behavior
When a player steps into the fog between the bus stops, a forest dweller crawls out of the ground and begins to scream. Their range for jumping off is not infinite, so they run after the player first before jumping on him. A forest dweller runs back into the fog when you suddenly enter clear air during this chase, plus they are not affected by monkey bombs. However, if a forest dweller is sitting on a player’s head, running back to safe areas won’t do any good either, so you can build teleporters at the Bus Stop and the Diner. To do this, a player with a forest dweller on their head must run under a green glowing streetlight, whereupon it will jump off and dig a hole in the ground. Once the forest dweller has completely disappeared into the ground, the portal appears, but only if the power is on or you have placed a turbine next to it. The player can now jump into the portal and land at a random other location on the map.
Forest dwellers always run away when they get near a glowing light, and characters also make spells about their strange behavior. Before they reach a player, the little beasts are very vulnerable. With the taser brass knuckles, you always kill them with one blow when you jump on them, you just have to turn around when you hear their famous scream and then strike in time. It also works with the bowie knife, but with the regular knife you need two stabs when they fly at you. One trick with the Bowie Knife is not to turn around; an experienced player who can purposefully gauge the second before the forest dweller lands on his head only needs to knife briefly to ward off the creature.
Its jump is quite slow and you can attack it from a further distance via melee than it usually is. The main reason the developers created the forest dwellers in the first place is to avoid players leaving the actual map and exploring the outskirts, but of course they didn’t want an invisible wall, so they included these critters. Only one forest dweller attacks at a time and there can even be only 2 forest dwellers on the map at a time.
Info
Misty is brash and self-confident, she thinks very highly of herself. She hates Samuel, who reciprocates those feelings, but has a crush on Marlton. She doesn’t deal with her past openly and thinks badly of it, which is why she tries to distract herself by killing zombies.
Info
• Forest dwellers are one of the few things that can take you down instantly in a survival fight. Other examples are traps or the napalm zombie.
• The game files mention the forest dwellers as “howlers”.
Heroes (Call of Duty)
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
