David “Hesh” Walker is a character from Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Biography
David Walker was born in 1999 in San Diego, California. Together with his younger brother Logan, he grew up with his father, since their mother left them early.
One day, when San Diego went down in a huge ash cloud, he enlists in the US Army. His first assignment is to check the Freedom Wall, which is a massive concrete wall representing the border between the United States and the Federation. After he, Logan and a few USMC soldiers successfully defended the wall, they were escorted to their father’s home at Fort Santa Monica in California. Once there, he received his new assignment. Now he was to go to No Man’s Land in San Diego in search of a Captain Merrick of the Ghosts. When Merrick saves Logan’s life, he asks the two to assist them in a rescue operation, as one of their men is being held and tortured in an old stadium. Once there, they found that Ajax had too severe injuries and died after a few minutes. With the help of a remote-controlled Barrett, they were able to escape from San Diego and return to Fort Santa Monica.
At Fort Santa Monica, however, pure chaos erupted. Federation troops raided the fort and Hesh and Logan searched for their father in the chaos. When Logan was almost killed, the two were extracted by a Ghost via helicopter. In the helicopter, their father then shows up behind his mask and asks his boys to become a Ghost because they passed all the tests.
Now a new phase of life begins for Hesh and Logan. Both are now officially a Ghost.
They go on the next mission with Sergeant Russ, Captain Merrick, Kick and their father and coordinator.
They are in search of Gabriel Rorke, a former member of the Ghosts who is now hunting down and killing the Ghosts because they left him behind at the Battle of Caracas to save the team. The Federation found him and broke his mind and brainwashed him to use him as a perfect Ghost killing machine.
When they apprehended Rorke in an offsite facility and held him in a plane, Rorke’s men overpowered them and tore the plane apart. The team landed in a jungle with their parachutes and had to be evacuated by Mako 2-3.
A few days later, their Las Vegas hideout is attacked and their father is executed by Rorke. Hesh becomes the new leader of the Ghosts. But when he, Logan and Merrick were about to be executed, shots rang out and the enemy soldiers fell to the ground. The reason, Keegan, an ex-sniper, rushed to the rescue and took his teammates outside to be extracted by Prince 2-0.
Since Merrick had broken his ribs, he could not continue to fight and took Elias’ place as coordinator for Hesh and Logan. When their carrier was attacked and destroyed, they had to escape via helicopter and resumed their journey to Rorke. In a small facility in the desert, they found Rorke on a train and had to make their way to him. Before the last container, Hesh made out with Merrick to fire one of the rods from the space station at the train at the code word “checkmate.” When Rorke was about to shoot Hesh, he initiated “checkmate” and Merrick fired at the train and the train car flew into the body of water next to the bridge. Logan shot Rorke with a through-and-through. However, the through shot still went through his brother Hesh and additionally through the rear glass window, which cracked and flooded the train. Logan picked up the injured Hesh and pulled him ashore, where they were both evacuated.
Suddenly Logan got kicked and tried to fight back with his knife, but as he was about to stab, he recognized Rorke, whom he actually assumed was dead. He dragged Logan along and wants to brainwash him just like the Federation had done to him, so Logan and Rorke can destroy the Ghosts together. Hesh just stays behind and calls for his brother. When his brother was gone, he was most likely evacuated.
