Captain Price was a British soldier who fought during World War 2. He served in the 6th Airborne Division and the British S.A.S in Call of Duty. In Call of Duty 2 he led a group that belonged to the 7th Armored Division.
Biography
North Africa
Chronologically, Captain Price first appeared in Call of Duty 2 on October 29, 1942, during the mission “The Diversion”. He was leader, of a group that belonged to the 7th Armored Division. Among others, Sgt. John Davis and Pvt. MacGregor were part of the group. The mission objective was to destroy the enemy depot and take away vital information. After this mission was successfully completed, the mission immediately continued. The mission was to protect a small village 30 miles from El Alamein. After this mission was also successful, 1 month later it was time for Operation Supercharge. The objective was now to break through the German lines, advance the British tanks, destroy all flak and the German liaison site. Due to the success of Operation Supercharge, the German location at El Daba was completely cut off, and so no reinforcements could be called in. In the following mission “The End of the Beginning” in El Daba, the mission was to “drive” the Germans out of the city and sink a supply ship. It is unknown what role Captain Price took in this mission as he is only seen at the end of the mission. Only on 10 March 1943 in Tunisia, it continues again with Captain Price. This time in the mission “Volkommen unterlegen” where they are stationed in Toujane and waiting for reinforcements. Immediately they were overwhelmed by a force of Germans who had planned ahead to counterattack the British, so they had no choice and had to retreat. So Captain Price, MacGregor and Davis grabbed a German armored scout car, and drove away as fast as they could. Unfortunately, they were unlucky because the armored scout car hit a mine and so, they had to flee on foot. This was followed by the final battle of the North African Campaign, the “Attack on Matmata” on March 30, 1943. Captain Price’s division was ambushed by the Germans, and so they had to fight their way through. When they found a “flak quad” they were able to knock the German planes out of the sky. From now on, all they had to do was find the information they subsequently did and they could leave. And thus the North African campaign was completed.
Call of Duty
Captain Price appears for the first time in Call of Duty, and also dies in it. In the following missions e appears: On Pegasus Bridge, where he helped the soldiers defend. In an unknown mission in Austria, where his plane was shot down, in this mission he was also arrested, and then captured by the Germans in a castle. In Germany, where he was sent to the Eder dam to destroy FLAK and generators. And last but not least in his last mission “The Tirpitz” where he dies.
Captain Price’s death
Captain Price dies in Call of Duty on October 27, 1944, when he was sent to sabotage the battleship “Die Tirpitz” with his comrade Sgt. Evans. He used his knowledge to forge papers to get into the warship. He also got in, but ran into a second soldier who immediately realized the papers were fake. Captain Price shot the German soldier, and thus the cover was blown. When he tried to defend his colleague Sgt. Evans (as he was arming the explosives) he was shot.
Trivia
• In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 there is an emblem on which Captain Price can be seen.
• There is an Achievement or Trophy in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that is named Blackjack. On the Blackjack card you can see Captain Price.
• Captain Price does not walk at his normal gait on “The Tripitz”, he walks with a limp.
• It is most likely that Captain Price is an allusion to the character Captain Price from the movie The Bridge of Arnhem. Because both share the same characteristics, and both have the same beard and beret.
• Captain Price was arrested twice, and also rescued twice by Americans. However, it is not known when and where he was arrested.
• In every game developed by Infinity Ward, there is a Captain Price.
• In an interview the character designer of Infinity Ward said that Captain Price is the grandfather of John Price.
Call of Duty
