Captain Alex Mason is an operator of the SOG (Studies and Observation group) and one of the main playable characters in Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Early military career
Born and raised in Alaska. The geographical proximity of his home state to the Soviet Union carried the threat of the Cold War to his doorstep. This was a key contributor to his passionate anti-communist ideals and eventual enlistment in the USMC. He spent his youth hunting moose and grizzlies in the Alaskan wilderness with his father (A World War 2 veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart for his actions at Makin Atoll); as a result, he is also skilled in combat in Arctic conditions and he is an excellent marksman (at age 20 he became the youngest winner, in the Wimbeldon Cup of marksmanship category).
After an exemplary term with the USMCs, he was recruited by the SAD/SOG. Since joining the Army, Mason has carried on many friendships with fellow soldiers in his unit and a special familiarity with Frank Woods.
Always looking for “action,” Mason’s impulsiveness is the only flaw that could not be “trained out of him.” However, his good friend, Frank Woods, is aware of it and knows how to react, depending on the situation.
He was the playable character in the pre-release version at E3 in the level “Victor Charlie”. He also appears in the level “Payday”. The entire game revolves around Mason being interrogated in a room, talking about his previous military missions. In one level, Weaver and Hudson (who you play at this point) torture Dr. Daniel Clarke, where among other things he shoves a shard of glass into his mouth and then hits his jaw several times. (This scene is not included in the USK version).
Possible death
On December 20, 1989, Jason Hudson, Frank Woods and Alex Mason set out on a mission in Panama to capture Manuel Noriega and find and kill Raul Menendez. During the mission, Hudson was captured by Menendez and forced to put a bag over Alex Mason’s head and lure Woods into a trap that Noriega knew about. Later, Woods stood on an open rooftop and believed the man with the bag over his head was Raul Menendez. However, it was Mason. Woods pulled the trigger and killed him with a sniper rifle.
Apparent Death
When Frank Woods refuses Hudson’s “order” and shoots Mason 2x in the leg he is apparently dead, he returns to Woods at the end and is reunited with his son provided he kills Menendez.

Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
