Rockstar Games has officially commented on the next installment of the GTA series (Did someone say GTA 6?). In a blog post they talk about the development of the game.
Where does the info come from?
In a blog post, Rockstar Games talks about the current development of Grand Theft Auto V, GTA Online and what fans can expect in the near future. Probably the most important part of the blog post for many in the community revolves around a new installment in the series. Everyone is hoping for a Grand Theft Auto VI, or GTA 6.
“GTA VI” as a name not mentioned, but suspected.
Rockstar Games explains: The blog post (via rockstargames.com) states:
“Given the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know that many of you have asked us for a new installment in the “Grand Theft Auto” series. With every new project we undertake, our goal is always to go well beyond what we’ve delivered so far – and we’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next installment in the “Grand Theft Auto” series is well underway. We look forward to revealing more as soon as we’re ready. So please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.”
Is there a release date for GTA 6?
No, that is not yet known and not foreseeable. The fact that development is in full swing is good news for fans. But to deduce a release period or even a date from that would be pure speculation. The insider Jason Schreier, however, has already given a first estimate of the release of GTA 6. And that is not as far away as many believe.
What else do we know about GTA 6?
So far, the news situation around a new part of the GTA series was very thin. Fans already thought that the game is already being developed. But this was not really confirmed officially. Official words there were last but not least from Strauss Zelnick, the head of the publisher Take-Two. He said that it is better to let a game series rest for a while, so that the release then feels like a big event. What else did Zelnick say about delaying games.
To that end, the publisher secured patents a few years ago that speak to an improved open world. This is about the calculation and generation of objects in an open world and also the NPCs and the road traffic could benefit from it.
What do you guess about the setting?
There are many rumors about the setting of GTA 6. Alleged leaks want to know that it goes back to Vice City in GTA VI. Only recently the remake of the Miami classic was released and gamers love the setting with the 80s music on the beach. Others suspect that the newest part of Grand Theft Auto will go to South America and take part in a Narcos setting.
