Nnoggie permanently banned from Echo

Even world-first raiders are not immune to permanent bans in WoW: Shadowlands. Nnoggie from Echo was permanently suspended for using a keyboard macro. But are all keyboard really banned? The case is not entirely clear.

One of the world-first raiders could be the PvE speed run Xy’mox’ charity chest may miss in September. Like Nnoggie from Echo on Twitter wrote, his two main WoW accounts were permanently banned for using a keyboard macro. According to him, he used the macros to level up in Classic Stratholme.

When it comes to automated software like keyboard macros, apparently doesn’t take any jokes at all, because a direct permanent ban is already unusual, as long as there are no previous banning penalties otherwise. However, keyboard macros do not directly fall under the punishable category of banning/cheating. Depending on which gamemaster you ask, keyboard macros are either not a problem or lead to a ban. So using keyboard macros seems to be a gray area. The case of Nnoggie shows that you should not take the chance.

WoW : Players hate Blizzard’s “new” dungeon finder

The revised dungeon finder of WoW: WotLK Classic has landed on the live servers … and is harshly criticized.

WoW: Do not miss the Raid speed run “Xy’mox’ charity chest” between Liquid and Echo

On September 10 and 11, the WoW top guilds Echo and Liquid will compete against each other in a chaotic raid speed run for a good cause

What do WoW’s Terms of Service say about Macros and Co.

  1. Cheats; that is, methods not expressly approved by Blizzard (whether performed using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise) that affect and/or facilitate gameplay, including exploits of game bugs, and thereby give you and/or other users an advantage over other players who do not use such methods;
  2. Bots; that is, any type of code and/or software not expressly approved by Blizzard that enables automated control of a Game or part of a Game or other features of the Platform, such as automated control of a character in a Game;
  3. Hacks; that is, accessing or modifying the Platform’s software in a manner not expressly approved by Blizzard;
  4. any type of code and/or software not expressly approved by Blizzard that may be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof to modify and/or facilitate gameplay or other functionality;

With luck, the permaban for Nnoggie will be lifted quickly, as keyboard macros are prohibited in WoW’s terms of use (buy now ) not clearly defined, but probably fall under “automated control over software”. So building a little helper via the keyboard’s software and using it in the game can be dangerous, even if it only automates a minimal aspect of the game.

When in doubt, players should not use their keyboard macros for WoW, and third-party software that automates game content and comes close to botting certainly should not. For allowed macros in the game, the Rule of thumb: one keystroke for one action. After the abolition of automated macro commands ingame, the game no longer allows more anyway. Do you use keyboard macros in WoW and have you ever been punished for it? Feel free to write us in the comments.
