Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street was already known for reaching out to players during his time at Blizzard. In several tweets, he recently talked about the MMO in the Runeterra universe (League of Legends, Arcane) and his Covid disease.
Since December 2020 we know for sure that Riot Games is working on an MMO in the universe of Runeterra (League of Legends, Arcane). On board as Executive Producer: Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, who many of you may remember from his time at Blizzard. Back then, Ghostcrawler took a lot of time to discuss design decisions and features with players in the WoW forum.
Ghostcrawler as ever
But even though Ghostcrawler is now developing for Riot Games, his nature hasn’t changed. However, a large part of the communication now goes through the Twitter account of the developer. And there Ghostcrawler also revealed details about the direction of the Runeterra MMO again and again in the last days and weeks.
Insight number 1: Riot Games’ new MMO will focus heavily on group content. Those who are keen on a single-player experience should rather play Horizon, Persona or Ruined King.
Finding number 2: There will also be PvP content in the LoL MMO, but it will not represent all areas such as ganking, epic battles, duels, arenas, esports, or looting defeated opponents. In other words, PvP in the Runeterra MMO won’t make everyone happy.
Finding number 3: It will be quite a while before we can lay hands on the new MMO in the course of an alpha or beta.
Ghostcrawler had Covid
Last but not least, there was also a health update from Greg Street. Back on January 7, 2022, the developer reported that he tested positive for Covid. He was doing well, however. He was fully vaccinated, he said, and is now making himself comfortable at home. This should not have had a negative impact on the development of the LoL MMO.
