Gamescom officially kicks off on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. with Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2021. The opening livestream will certainly already have some new announcements ready, as well as the first game awards will be presented there. Until Friday, August 27, 2021, you can expect numerous other live streams on a wide variety of gaming topics. You can find the entire Gamescom 2021 program here.
2021 and 2022 will see the release of numerous eagerly awaited games. Here we show you eight games that we are particularly looking forward to and that you will surely see in one form or another at Gamescom 2021.
New year, new Fifa. The 2022 version of the by far most successful soccer simulation is likely to play a major role at Gamescom this year as well. Once again, EA promises improved graphics, more realistic player movements and animations, and even more realism in ball physics and opponent AI. The huge license package, which lets you play with all the clubs and players of the world’s most famous leagues, should once again lure numerous digital soccer players in front of the screen this year.
A new “Call of Duty” has also become a must-have almost every year. “Call of Duty: Vanguard” will be released on November 5, 2021 and is once again set in the Second World War. As usual, you’ll shoot your way through numerous battles and change the course of history in the process. The online mode will span a whopping 20 maps and a fun zombie mode won’t be missing either. We hope to get more information about all this at Gamescom.
The sixth part of the multiplayer shooter series “Battlefield” leaves the usual world war scenario behind. In the year 2042, the world is on the brink, famine reigns and governments are on the ground. As a mercenary, your protagonist joins the USA or Russia, which are at war with each other. “Battlefield 2042” is completely designed for multiplayer, but you should be able to experience the battles in numerous different game modes. Up to 128 players compete on huge maps, which are supposed to be up to six square kilometers in size. Futuristic weapons and vehicles will be used, as well as dog-like combat robots. The game does without a solo campaign, but you should be able to play the battles completely alone against computer-controlled opponents. We hope for a detailed presentation of the new modes at this year’s Gamescom.
The newest part of the “Rainbow Six” series was recently postponed to 2022. Nevertheless, you can get your hopes up for new information and new gameplay scenes at Gamescom. All that is known about the title so far is that a parasite is spreading in a laboratory and infecting everything and everyone there. Players will have to complete numerous tasks to ultimately destroy the parasite. “As is typical for Rainbow Six, we expect fun co-op missions, where every single team member will be fully challenged.
Microsoft will be holding its own “Xbox Event” at Gamescom, which will certainly showcase all the big games that will be released in the near future. There is still no official release date for “Halo Infinite”, but Microsoft is sticking to a late 2021 release. So far, Microsoft has also only released information about the extensive multiplayer part, and little is known about the single-player campaign so far. We are expecting new details at Gamescom, especially because the end of 2021 and (hopefully) the release of “Halo Infinite” is getting closer.
The “Forza Horizon” games have always thrilled with a huge open game world that you can freely drive through and in which you can start a race at every street and traffic light. This time you’ll race through Mexico, crossing deserts, ruins, cities and mountains. Of course, the tuning and realistic controls are not to be missed here either. New gameplay scenes of the beautifully designed game world will hopefully be available at Gamescom. Next to “Halo”, “Forza” is probably the most important exclusive series for the Xbox. So it’s no wonder that fans are eagerly waiting for the release on November 9, 2021.
The latest version of Flight Simulator from Microsoft has already been released in 2020. However, Microsoft has announced its intention to constantly expand the world map with new airports and flight areas. We already know that Microsoft is working especially on Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the “World Update 6” and wants to make all airports and routes even more beautiful and detailed. We are curious and hope for new information and insights.
“Age of Empires” is one of the best and longest-lived real-time strategy series on the PC. In “Age of Empires IV”, as in its predecessors, you will experience important events in history over centuries, build cities and destroy your enemies in tactically challenging battles. Both on the PC and on your Xbox, you’ll experience tactically challenging battles. We hope for more information about the races and especially the multiplayer part. In tactical combat against human opponents, the “Age of Empires” games have been a benchmark for all other strategy games for decades.
