G2 replaces Rekkles, Mikyx probably with Flakked, Targamas

In of Legends, what should be the best team in Europe, G2, is completely reshuffling for 2022. The perennial champion in European LoL will sell its botlane of legendary ADC Rekkles and supporter Mikyx. Hardly anyone knows the new players yet: They are supposedly talents from the Regional League.

What’s going on at G2?

A new super team is reportedly emerging in LoL – Bring back 2 of the best players in Europe

This was the previous botlane of G2: As a carry, G2 2021 had probably the most famous botlaner in European LoL ever: Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. The 25-year-old Swede was the figurehead of Fnatic for 5 years and won tens of championships with them.

Playing as a supporter was 22-year-old Slovenian Mikyx, who spent just under 3 years with G2 and part of the team that won it all in 2019 and 2020.

The Slovenian has made a good name for himself in LoL in recent years, although he was more often seen as a bit unstable. There’s talk of a “coin flip” player who flips a coin before a match, whether he plays insanely well or poorly.

Rekkles will leave G2 after an unsuccessful year.

G2 played against top teams during Worlds

These are supposedly the new players: As reported by Dotesports, during the Worlds in Iceland, G2 played a series of training matches against the “big teams”, trying out a wide variety of players. The selection process is said to have taken place over several weeks.

In the end, a new botlane had prevailed:

  • The new botakner of G2 is to become the Spaniard Victor “Flakked” Lirola (20). The has played 2 years for the junior team of the Mad Lions and was active there in the Spanish league “LVP Superliga”, which corresponds to a 3rd league.
  • His supporter is to be 21-year-old Belgian Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé. He plays for Karime Corp, they won the “EU Masters” in 2021, which is sort of the 2nd league in Europe. They also became champions in France’s own league, the LFL. That’s equivalent to a 3rd league.

In LoL, there are leagues that you divide into different levels (tiers): LEC is the professional league of Europe. This is an international league (Tier 1). Below that, there are regional leagues in which only teams from one country or language area play (Tier 3). The European Masters are the “tier 2” league of Europe, here the best teams of the regional leagues play. In the “lower leagues” play among others the junior teams of professional teams.

DotEsports reports that ADC Flakked appears to have won out over established competition from Europe. Allegedly, G2 had also toyed with the idea of signing Mad Lions’ ADC Carzzy or Rogue’s, Hans Sama. But apparently they decided in favor of Flakked.

Flakked and Targmas are reportedly set to officially join G2 on November 16. Who will play on the top lane then and which teams Rekkles and Mikys will end up with is not clear yet. Both players are reportedly for sale.

At the moment these transfers are also not confirmed, but only rumors. Officially, the players will only be able to change in 2 weeks, then the transfer period begins. But many players have already received permission from their teams to look for something new.

Update 11/3, 16:29: According to new rumors, German Broken Blade is reportedly in talks for G2’s top lane. He last played for Schalke, but they sold their place in the league.

This is Targamas. He might become the new supporter at G2.

An interesting development is taking place in the USA. There the teams have a lot of money, but still the players are entering the market:

LoL: The richest US teams just lose their sinfully expensive players
