Update as of October 02, 2021, 10:50 am:
Konami has released a statement regarding the damage control or status of #eFootball 2022. Since the release of the free-to-play soccer game, they had received a lot of comments about improving the gameplay feel, overall balance, ball behavior (way too heavy), character animations, facial expressions, and cutscenes. The publisher apologized for the problems and wants to continuously work on improvement with updates. Targeted user surveys are also planned.
On Steam, eFootball 2022 currently has by far the worst user rating of all games available on the platform. Only nine percent of 13,871 user reviews are “positive”.
Original message dated September 30, 2021, 12:25 p.m:
#Konami Digital Entertainment today releases eFootball 2022 for playStation5, playStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam – as a free-to-play version that will be steadily expanded in the coming weeks and months. The first “big update” is scheduled for release in the fall. Until then, the available content of the soccer simulation really turns out to be very meager, as only local matches with nine predefined teams and challenge events (against AI opponents and online against human opponents) with authentic teams are possible, whereby the challenge events might not be available in the first few days (overview of licenses).
On Steam, the release is accompanied with “extremely negative” user reviews, as only nine percent of over 3,200 published user reviews are “positive”. This makes eFootball 2022 one of the worst rated games on the platform. Not only is the lack of content chalked up in the reviews, but simulation, realism, graphics, animations and gameplay are also criticized. Some reviews say that it looks like a “mobile game”.
Konami: “To properly celebrate the release of eFootball 2022, there will be a kick-off campaign for the launch of the game, consisting of online games and the ‘Worldwide Clubs’ event. The online games campaign will offer all players the chance to win random deal contracts based on the number of games they play. Random deal contracts give players the opportunity to receive ‘Legendary’ player cards. These player cards can strengthen one’s creative teams starting with the Fall Update. The online match campaign starts now and runs until November 8, 2021. (…) he ‘Worldwide Clubs’ special event allows players to choose their favorite clubs to compete against rivals from around the world. Starting today, players can dive deep into the world of eFootball to experience online and offline matches with real teams. The online event mode lets users compete against others in ‘Challenge Events’. Each week, players can choose one of over 200 licensed teams and play in various challenges for the in-game GP currency, which can be used starting with the next major update.”
“Once a team has been selected, only that team can be played for the duration of the current event. This will be reset once the active challenge time is up and a new one begins. There will be two challenges per event period; completing the first challenge will unlock challenge number 2. Players can start as many attempts and games as they like – even after the challenges have been mastered, there is no limit here. Only the reward of the successfully completed challenge decreases with multiple completions – GP can still be earned, however, in line with eFootball’s ‘Play to Win’ structure. eFootball 2022 offers cross-generation matches (PlayStation 5 vs. PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S vs. Xbox One) in online matchmaking, so players can experience the event mode regardless of the available console generation. The ‘Worldwide Clubs’ event starts now and runs through November 8.”
The major fall update is expected to bring the following features:
- “Creative Teams – This is where you can create your own Dream Team, signing players and coaches that fit your playing style and improve over time through intensive training.
- New Player Types – there will be four new player types in the game: Standard, Trending, Featured and Legendary.
- Contracts – users will be able to sign players via two types of contracts: Random Deals and List Contract,
- New Match Modes – Users will have access to modes such as eFootball Creative League, Tour Event, Challenge Event, ‘Online Quick Match’ and Online Match Lobby (some modes will be available after version 1.0 release)”
#Konami: “Users can prepare for the release of the Major Update by pre-ordering the Premium Player Pack. As long as the user does not reset the selection, they are guaranteed to receive six unique players in it with no duplicates, and each of the available players has an equal chance of being signed. Players will also be rewarded with two additional random deal contracts if they pre-order the package. This brings the total number to eight contracts instead of the six that will be included after the pre-order period ends. The eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack is available for pre-order now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and PC Steam for a price of €39.99 (MSRP). Those who own eFootball PES 2021 – Season UPDATE or eFootball PES 2021 LITE can purchase the Premium Player Pack through either game at a 10% discount. In addition, loyal eFootball PES 2021 – Season UPDATE and/or eFootball PES 2021 LITE players will receive a variable veteran bonus based on their in-game game collection in eFootball 2022.”
