Maybe this news could piss off some fans. Unfortunately, the development team does not have good news.
Currently, the Call of Duty: Warzone fan community can look forward to the launch of – Season 2. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2022, new map locations and modes like Caldera Clash will be added to the game. This should give some momentum to the dusty shooter.
But as the responsible persons of Activision and Raven Software had to announce now on the official homepage, there is also bad news for Warzone. As it seems, a certain community wish will not be fulfilled so quickly for the time being.
Bad news for CoD fans
Activision and Raven Software shared that it will probably never be possible to enable the eagerly desired FoV slider for console gamers*. Many fans feel disadvantaged by the fact that this feature is not available on PS5, PS4. Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
What is a FoV slider? FoV is the abbreviation for Field of View, which is the “field of view” of the first-person perspective. On the PC, the field of view in Call of Duty: Warzone can be enlarged or adjusted depending on your own taste and the performance of the PC. This has some advantages, because the larger the field of view is, the sooner enemies can be spotted.
Just recently, the development team admitted that Warzone has been struggling with many bugs, glitches and other annoying issues. The fact that FoV sliders are no longer coming to consoles should anger the fan community even more.

No FoV slider for console versions
While Call of Duty: Vanguard offers this option for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players*, all console players* will have to do without this field of view enhancement for Call of Duty: Warzone. It is also currently not possible for the development team to separately release a FoV slider for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as they are not standalone versions.
Warzone is running on backwards compatibility here, so these are adapted PS4 and Xbox One versions. So in order to include a FoV slider, standalone PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Warzone would have to be released first.
Why isn’t the FoV slider coming? According to the development team, the reason is the old console generation. If the FoV slider were to come to PS4 and Xbox One, it would result in immense performance drops.
Also, the majority who play Warzone are PS4 and Xbox One players*. If the FoV slider were to come only for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the old console generation would be at a disadvantage and a “skill gap” would be created. The development team wants to prevent that as much as possible.
Possible FoV slider in Warzone 2
But there is hope: Activision only recently confirmed that the development team is currently working on a Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Should the title only be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, nothing would stand in the way of a FoV slider, as the performance of the new console generation should be sufficient to implement the feature smoothly.
Are you disappointed that the FoV slider will no longer appear for Call of Duty: Warzone?
