Fortnite screws the XP – eSportsNews eSports Fortnite

Chapter 2 – Season 8 has been out for almost 2 weeks now and already players in are complaining about the rationed experience points. We at MeinMMO show you what the community has to say about the current XP situation and what should change best.

What has changed?

Fortnite reintroduced the so-called “stamp cards” with Chapter 2 – Season 8. However, these stamp cards can now be selected and tracked in the separate quest tab. If you have now completed all the stamp cards of the selected NPCs, you are empty-handed and can not get more XP in this form.

So far, Epic Games has not renewed the Stamp Cards and thus many Fortnite players are forced to either farm Battle Royal mode or go into Creative mode.

Deliberate thwarting of XP – players are frustrated

On reddit, players are making their displeasure apparent. Many are fed up with Epic Games deliberately capping XP or setting certain requirements.

With the weekly reset, many players were expecting new punch cards, but were only put off with a single more NPC punch card and a weekly punch card. The punchcard only held three tasks, just like last week. One of them was a friendship task, which is not so easy to complete as a solo player.

This is not the only post of this kind. Many have appeared throughout the week. Fortnite players think back to past – Season s when XP coins were available or a secret quest was followed.

Such secret quests, like the “Dwarves vs. the Bears” quest, gave Fortnite a certain depth. Every week, you waited in anticipation to see what twist these mini-stories would take. Plus, you got XP for every clue you followed up on.

Were other XP sources thwarted?

The so-called “impostor” mode was the new place to go for XP. Many players were hanging around in this mode during the week to specifically farm XP. But of course also to betray their friends for fun.

But Epic Games unfortunately got wind of this and without further ado, they halved the XP won after each completed match. This was proof to the community that Epic was trying to slow players down in this case.

The goal of every player is to reach level 200 in Battlepass to unlock additional skin styles. By interfering with the impostor mode, Epic Games compounded the XP problem and ensured that players did not reach the maximum level quickly.

What are players asking for?

Many suggestions have been mentioned in reddit. Sometimes there are also some suggestions that might appeal to you:

  • After the stamp cards nevertheless tasks with XP to get
  • No friendship quests
  • Fishing fish at fishing spots
  • Destroy any number of stones
  • Blow up buildings
  • Consume instant items

Has Epic commented on this?

Epic Games mentioned on Twitter that they will change the XP system in Battle Royale into a positive one, and that already in the next update. What we can expect remains to be seen, but the date of the next update has already been set. This would be September 28, 2021, and perhaps we can expect several innovations regarding skins or even the map.

What do you think about Epic intentionally trying to cap XP gain? Are you guys affected by this? Let us know in the comments!
