Fortnite now comes back to iOS – eSportsNews eSports Fortnite

Due to a legal dispute between Epic and Apple, was removed from the Apple Store. Since then, iOS users could no longer play the popular shooter. However, this is now possible again via a detour.

Starting next week, Fortnite will be playable on iOS again – but only via a clever detour. Fortnite fans who own Apple devices have been unhappy for the past few months. After a legal dispute between Epic and Apple, Fortnite was removed from the iOS app store and was no longer playable on iOS devices like the iPhone or iPad.

Why is Fortnite running on iOS again?

Now Fortnite players can get going again on iOS, albeit in a roundabout way. Because although Apple still does not make Fortnite available, it is now playable via the cloud.

The popular Battle Royale is now appearing on GeForce NOW, Nvidia’s cloud service. This is a limited-time closed beta for mobile devices.

So mobile gamers can play Fortnite again on their Apple devices with touch controls. However, this does not work via an app to be installed. Instead, the game runs via Apple’s Safari web browser, which is installed on your iPhones and iPads.

How can I play Fortnite on iOS again?

Players using GeForce NOW can now sign up to participate in the limited-time Fortnite closed beta for mobile devices (via nvidia.com).

If you still want to sign up for a membership now, you are automatically qualified for this closed beta as well.

How much does GeForce NOW cost?

One drawback is that you will have to pay for the free-to-play game via this method. There are 2 subscriptions for GeForce NOW; free and priority.

With the free subscription, you can play for a maximum of 1 hour at a time. If too many players want to play at the same time, you will also have to wait in a queue for your chance. This could often become a problem, especially with the popularity of Fortnite.

With Priority, you can play for up to 6 hours at a time with better graphics. If there are queues, you have priority access to the premium servers. This subscription costs €49.99 for 6 months.

What else do you need to know?

Besides the possible costs, there are other things to consider. For example, the quality of your gaming experience depends heavily on your Internet connection. Depending on your situation, this solution might not satisfy you. In particular, a delay in the control inputs and the image quality can become a problem.

Whether cloud gaming is a good solution for iOS players remains to be seen. Currently, however, other clouds are also keeping Fortnite players busy:
