Fortnite: Aqua (19) gets death threats

Austrian David “aqua” Wang, 19, became the 2019 world champion in online shooter , pocketing $1.5 million in prize money at the time. Now he says he’s getting death threats for blabbing in a stream and vilifying a former partner.

This is aqua:

Streamer insults ex-partner live, didn’t know stream was on

This is causing a stir: A Twitter clip went around this week of Aqua hanging out with other streamers, but not knowing he was live on the air. In the clip, they talk about playing together with Brit Mongraal, a former trio partner of aqua. But the Austrian says:

“Oh shut up, I just don’t want to play with Mongraal. He sucks. […] I’m not itching anymore, he’s triggered me.”

When others point out to him that aqua should calm down, one is streaming this live, aqua immediately gets nervous. The person streaming this live should restart the stream and delete the recording.

But by then it was too late, the clip was on the net.

E-sports journalist Jack Lucky distributed the clip.

Here’s how Mongraal reacted: Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson (17), known for his tantrums, reacted surprisingly calmly: He wrote that the Fortnite scene is like that. It’s always back and forth, especially in groups of friends like this. No one ever says anything to your face, the insults always come from behind.

That’s exactly how it works: “Please delete the clip, turn off the stream” (via twitter).

9-year-old banned from Fortnite for 4 years, cries – 100,000 want to free him

Mongraal explained that since he left his clique in Fortnite, he has been constantly talked about by top players. He’s an easy target, he said, because he’ll never find out without contacts.

He doesn’t care about any of that anymore, though. aqua can now win 3 tournaments in a row with his old trio, Mongraal doesn’t care. He only plays Fortnite anymore anyway because he gets so many positive messages from the fans.

People should stop sending hate messages to aqua, though. That’s a thing between them, he said.

Mongraal (17) expresses disappointment but not surprise at the incident.

This is what aqua says: The is feeling the effects of his statements in the stream on Twitter. He says he’s getting “thousands of death threats just for calling someone shit.” For him, they are just outraged fanbois of Mongraal.

aqua then posts some tweets from people calling him names and urging him to take his own life or die in agony.

The most frightening message shared by the 19-year-old devolves into murder and rape fantasies against the Austrian’s father, mother, and sister – announcing that they would “happily fly themselves to Austria” and commit the outrages.

That’s what’s behind it: Apparently Mongraal and aqua, along with player “Noah”, had recently planned to compete in Fortnite’s e-sports as a trio. However, the trio did not seem to work out and then quickly disbanded.

From the incident, you can see that the interaction among Fortnite players is immature, even though there is so much money involved in the field. The fans also seem to know no limits at all when someone sins against their “idol”. That is alarming.

For some parents, the high prize money in Fortnite is an incentive to get “the best” out of their son:
