Berlin-born Jerome Boateng has been playing for FC Bayern Munich since 2011, and since the triple victory two years later at the latest, he has been one of the world’s best. FIFA 20 gives the German central defender a Flashback SBC, which is quite something. Is the SBC worth it? What is the most favorable solution? We’ll tell you.
At the 2014 World Cup, Jérôme Boateng was part of the DFB team that won the World Cup in Brazil. In 2016, he was voted Germany’s Footballer of the Year. In FIFA 20, however, his lack of speed means that his Gold card is not necessarily one of the most popular players, but that changes with his Flashback card. Together with the Shapeshifters variant of club colleague David Alaba, Boateng is an absolute power in central defense for Bundesliga teams.
Quick facts about Flashback Jerôme Boateng:
- Position: IV
- Nation: Germany
- League: Bundesliga
- Overall Rating: 91
- Weak foot: 4 stars
- Skills: 4 stars
- Price: about 450.000 coins
- Expiration: does not expire
The strengths of Boateng’s flashback card
Jérôme Boateng’s gold card is mainly lacking in speed and agility. Values that are enormously important in FIFA 20 in central defense. Fortunately, the Flashback variant improves significantly in precisely these areas. 83 pace, 99 reactions, 99 composure, 99 fair duels and 99 strength are a real house number, and that’s even without Chem style.
With Shadow, Boateng achieves a defensive value of 98 and that with 94 pace, so no one can fool the Bayern player in a hurry.
Is Flashback Boateng worth it?
The answer, in a nutshell, is yes! Only Mats Hummels’ Flashback card has the same overall rating, but is inferior to Boateng in terms of speed and physicality. Only the Future Stars variant of Ozan Kabak or base icon Lothar Matthäus can keep up with Boateng to some extent.
But even in a direct comparison, the FC Bayern München player retains the upper hand in key stats such as defense and physicality. And that for around 300,000 coins less than Matthäus.
The cheapest SBC solution
Just under 450,000 coins is the current cost of the Flashback SBC, for which two squads must be surrendered:
- FC Bayern Munich team with an 86 rating (at least 75 chemistry).
- Bundesliga team with a rating of 87 (at least 70 chemistry)
The cheapest way to do this is to have players in your own squad who are not needed for your own FUT team. Alternatively, here is the currently most favorable solution for both teams.
Team 1: FC Bayern Munich
A player of FC Bayern Munich, as well as an Inform card are prerequisites for the team. We fulfill these with Thiago, who we use as RV as well as the IF variant of Suso, who not only links to the Bayern player, but also to the midfield and forward from the Spanish La Liga. Price: about 185,000 coins.
Team 2: Bundesliga
Here, only a Bundesliga player and an Inform card are needed. Since the team needs to get to an 87 rating, the way to go is through Manuel Neuer – goalkeepers with high OVR are much cheaper than field players. The rest is made up of Serie A players and a triangle from Ajax Amsterdam, which can be had cheaply due to a league that isn’t particularly popular. Still, just under 260,000 coins will be due.
If both teams are handed in, one of the best central defenders of the Bundesliga will finally be part of your own team in FUT 20, and a strong link to Jens Lehmann, which we recommended in our overview of cheap icons, is included for free. If you are in a SBC mood, get one of the best left defenders in FIFA 20 for free. Happy kicking!
FIFA Squad Building Challenges (short SBC)
The FIFA Squad Building Challenges (SBC for short) are about putting together a team according to certain specifications. They are an important part of FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and bring coins, valuable packs or special cards when fulfilled.
For the most part, you’ll have to line up eleven players that you have in your club and then send this squad off. These players will then disappear from your club. In return, you’ll receive a reward, such as a pack or a special card. As with FIFA 19, FIFA 20 and FIFA 21 we will report about the latest SBCs for FIFA 22 here and help you to judge if it is worth to complete a challenge.
START WITH THE SQUAD BUILDING CHALLENGES
In Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), you can use your player items to build unique teams based on various challenge conditions. You can then submit these to receive bonuses.
Here’s how:
- From the FIFA 22 main menu, select the FIFA Ultimate Team section.
- In the home page section, select Squad Building Challenges and call them up.
- Select the challenge you want to complete. They are grouped by category.
Create a team.
- Using items from your club or from the transfer market, build a team that meets the challenge conditions. Usually this is a mix of player quality, team chemistry, team value, nationalities, leagues and clubs.
Master the Challenge to submit your team and receive bonuses.
- All SBC submissions cannot be undone. Once you complete an SBC, the submitted items will be permanently removed from your club in exchange for bonuses. Our consultants cannot restore submitted items.
- For some SBCs, you will only have a limited amount of time to complete them. Once a challenge has expired, you will no longer be able to submit a team.
More details about SBCs
- Some SBCs consist of multiple challenges with individual bonuses and a larger overall completion bonus. Other challenges are single challenges.
- Some SBCs are repeatable. You have a chance to get different bonuses for each team submission, but you might also get the same bonus.
- SBCs are available in all FIFA 22 versions, but they can vary depending on the platform. Bonuses can also vary from platform to platform.
