Today, Activision and the developers of Infinity Ward gave us a new trailer for the upcoming shooter “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. In addition, it was announced that the official unveiling of the title will take place next week.

This Thursday evening, Activision and the responsible developers of Infinity Ward provided us with the first official trailer for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”.

The said video was subtitled “Ultimate Team” and shows various soldiers apparently in a truck heading towards the battlefield. “Task Force 141 makes a massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans,” the characters are told. “These operators include Captain John Price, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, John ‘Soap’ MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick and the introduction of Colonel Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican Special Forces.”

Just before the end of the trailer, the date of the official “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” reveal was also mentioned: June 8, 2022.

Leak provided the first details about the editions

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will follow a darker tone than its predecessor, according to various insiders, and will confront you with the deadly fight against a drug cartel. Furthermore, there was talk of several multiplayer betas, an expanded melee mechanic or the typical “Call of Duty” blockbuster moments.

We’ll find out on June 8, 2022, to what extent the insiders’ statements correspond to the facts. Then we might be smarter about the different editions that will be launched with “Modern Warfare 2”.

Here, the rumors spoke of the mandatory Standard Edition, a cross-gen bundle and the Vault Edition, which will grant pre-orderers access to a closed beta and bring exclusive content such as XP boosters or skins. Another exciting rumor that has been doing the rounds in the past few days is that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will get a standalone virtual reality experience.
