The new chemistry system in FIFA 23 poses a new challenge to the community. So how do you build a starter team with full chemistry that is good enough for the Weekend League? In this article we explain how you should approach it and we also have three starter teams that should be OP in the first week.
Why is the new chemistry system a challenge?
In FIFA22, the chemistry of a card depended on the neighboring cards on the field. So you only had to make sure that the card had some connection (nation, league, club) to the neighboring card to create a link. If there was no link, you could compensate with a “strong” link (e.g.: same nation and same league) to another card. Exactly this is now omitted.
The whole team now has to be built up in a way that cards have similarities among each other in the known three categories nation, league and club. So it’s harder to get full chemistry in FIFA 23 than in FIFA 22.
FIFA 23 – Full chemistry through a league
If you want to take the easy way out, you have the option, as in FIFA 22, to simply assemble players from a league. This way you will have at least eight players from one league together and secure the three chemistry points per map. Here is a cheap starter team from the Bundesliga.

The displayed ratings are not the FIFA 23 ratings. As current leaks show, Musiala for example should get a rating of 81 points.
As you can see on the right side of the graphic, this team gets full 33 chemistry points, because it contains 3+2+3 Bundesliga players. In the lines below you can also see how often other link factors (Germany, Leverkusen, Croatia, etc.) are represented. The second line thus also brings us directly to the second simpler method of building a team.
FIFA 23 – Full chemistry through a nation
You already know this approach from FIFA 22, too. If you assemble players of one nation only, you can’t lose chemistry points in FIFA 23. Here is a cheap starter team with players from France.
A card with a Frenchman gets three chemistry points if at least 2+3+3 cards with French nationality are put together in the team, so at least eight. Just like in the Bundesliga election, here we even line up eleven instead of eight Frenchmen and thus secure full chemistry.
So far, so simple. Now let’s move on to the challenge that makes FUT 23 the most popular mode in FIFA 23 – building hybrid teams.
FIFA 23 – Full chemistry with hybrid teams
We’ve now seen that there are easy ways to get straight to full chemistry at the start of the FIFA 23 – Season . However, creativity admittedly fell by the wayside.
If you want to combine players from different leagues and nations, you need to take a look at strong players within a club. Here is a cheap starter team from the Bundesliga + La Liga with focus on FC Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona.
The idea is relatively simple: if you go to multiple leagues, you can no longer generate three points per card by playing in one league. Thus, you have to make sure to take the categories club and nation and preferably combine two of them.
In this example we take players from one club (FC Bayern or also FC Barcelona), because this way we combine the categories club and league. Four cards generate three points – two by club and one by league.
By this method you now have eight of eleven players lined up. How do you select the remaining three players?
Here it’s worth taking a look at the list on the right side of the graphic. There you can easily find out which categories are only one card away from another chemistry point.
In our example, we would have four La Liga and four Bundesliga cards at this point. For two chemistry points through the league we need five cards, so one more card – perfect.
So if we add another player from the Bundesliga, the new card gets two chemistry points through the league. For the third point, we need to look at the Nation category. The choices in this example include Spain, France, and Germany. Therefore, our choice falls on Tello, Roussillon and Rüdiger.
