The POTM program has been part of the popular game mode for years FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and spits out monthly special cards for pros from major European soccer leagues, “FIFA 23” sees the return of the popular promo.
FIFA 23: What is a POTM?
POTM stands for Player of the Month, meaning Player of the Month. Every month, EA Sports lets its fans, in partnership with the Premier League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga and Serie A, vote on which footballer deserves this title based on his real-life performances over the past four weeks.
The winners of each of these votes will win a POTM special card in FUT, which users can then earn in the game. These are often quite strong objects – especially when a pro wins the title several times and thus improves his existing card mightily.
“FIFA 23” may not have been released yet, but on the POTM election for August 2022 in the Series A EA Sports still doesn’t want to do without. The developer has selected five players for the first-ever Serie A vote, from which fans can choose their POTM.
FIFA 23 Serie A POTM: Candidates for August 2022
- Paulo Dybala – AS Rome
- Teun Koopmeiners – Atalanta Bergamo
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – SSC Naples
- Lautaro Martínez – Inter Milan
- Dušan Vlahović – Juventus Turin
Vlahović scored four goals in four games in August 2022, with his goal against AS Roma crucial in preventing defeat. Martínez does not quite keep up with this scoring rate, scoring three goals in four games, but also contributing an assist. The Georgian Kvaratskhelia did the same to Martínez, helping Napoli to their high-scoring openers against Verona (5-2) and Monza (4-0).
Koopmeiner’s scored just one goal in August 2022 – but it gave Bergamo a 1-0 win over Verona. The Dutchman is already a hot candidate for September 2022, though, as he virtually single-handedly dispatched FC Torino on the first day of the new month. With two goals and an assist, the Paulo Dybala into the POTM race – his assist proved crucial in forcing the aforementioned draw against Juventus.
