Since July we are allowed to tell you with which innovations FIFA 23 comes up with. Finally, FUT is the most important mode for EA Sports, which also comes with two of the biggest changes compared to the predecessor. On the one hand, the chemistry system will be completely turned upside down this year, and on the other hand, so-called FUT Moments will provide more variety and rewards.

Position links are a thing of the past

To get your Ultimate Team in top shape, green position links were an enormously important means to success for many years. In FIFA 23 EA throws them completely overboard and calculates the team chemistry with all players on the field from now on.

An example from the Bundesliga: Whereas Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and Benjamin Pavard were previously unable to build chemistry as left and right defenders, respectively, because they do not play right next to each other, this is now possible. The crucial thing is that they play on the same team at Bayern Munich, which has a positive effect on their chemistry.

• For the calculation of player chemistry and chemistry value for your Ultimate Team, the whole field is now included.
• Player chemistry is now represented by three points, where 3/3 is the best value for a player.
• Players are minimum as good as their base stats, can no longer slip into negative.

Advantage for the FUT icons: If you have a legend like Zidane, Cruyff or Beckham in your team, their chemistry value is always at maximum – provided they play in the right position.

FUT Moments for more variety

The second big innovation for the Ultimate Team mode are the so-called FUT Moments, in which you replay certain match scenarios and get rewards for successful completion.

For example, you’ll replay a superstar’s professional debut and have to provide the assist for the decisive goal when substituted in the 88th minute. If you fail, you can repeat the scenario as often as you like.

Crossplay for FUT

We already told you that there is crossplay in FIFA 23 under certain conditions for the first time. For FUT players there is now the information that you can play FUT Rivals, FUT Friendlies, FUT Champions, FUT Play a Friend and the FUT Online Draft cross-platform. Provided you are on the same console generation (example: PS5 and Xbox Series X/S).

Since FIFA 21 we can customize the home stadium of our Ultimate Team. Also this year there will be new customization options for it like animated banners, tifos, new (flood) lights or for example Halloween themes.
