At the end of December 2022, the naming agreement between EA Sports and FIFA will expire. Thus FIFA 23 will probably be the last of the FIFA series. Then there will be a name change if the contract is not renewed.

The release of FIFA 23 in the fall of this year, however, should still be in dry cloths. The first rumors have now surfaced about this very game.

FIFA 23: Are EA and FIFA going separate ways?

For over three decades there is the popular soccer simulation FIFA. Now after more than 20 years should be an end. EA Sports does not want to extend the contract with FIFA. For several months both parties have not come to an agreement in the contract poker and as of now the facts look like this: The existing contract runs since 2013 and loses its validity on December 31, 2022.

An extension seems almost completely out of the question. Andre Wilson, CEO of EA, spoke out on behalf of Electronic Arts now, saying he believed the company would be better off without FIFA. Distancing itself from FIFA would benefit the company. Accordingly, a 30-year era would end. Wilson describes the current deal as an “obstacle.”

FIFA 23: THIS comes to soccer fans

Nevertheless, there should be a release of FIFA 23 in autumn, probably the last one of EA’s FIFA series. And for this there is already the first insider information from industry insider Tom Henderson, who is a well-known name among FIFA fans.

Among other things, Henderson reports that FIFA 23 would offer a cross-play feature for the first time in the series’ history. This should enable games across the platforms. Thus, among other things, owners of the PC version could play with owners of the PlayStation version.

FIFA 23 is also expected to feature both men’s and women’s World Cup modes, which should allow fans to play a corresponding World Cup with numerous national teams.

Whether or not an era will actually come to an end at the end of the year remains to be seen. Soccer fans will have to be patient until FIFA 23. A release date is not yet known, but the game should come out in the fall of 2022. (oa)
