EA has announced that they are removing all Russian teams and the Russian national team from their games. This affects the current FIFA 22, but also other games. With this they want to show solidarity with Ukraine.
What exactly did EA announce? In an official statement it says that EA in consultation with FIFA and UEFA decided to remove the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online.
They also reserve the right to make further changes to other areas of the games in the future.
As a reason, the developers said that they want to be in solidarity with the people from Ukraine and the voices in soccer calling for peace and an end to the invasion.
Whether and how exactly the changes will affect FIFA Ultimate Team is currently unknown. Here, problems usually arise because players have invested real money in certain cards.
Current events in Ukraine occupy gamers and also developers
How do studios and gamers react to the invasion? EA is not the first company to react to the current events in Ukraine.
Belarusian gaming developer Wargaming, for example, experienced an internal conflict. The creative director made positive comments about the activities of Russian soldiers. He was subsequently fired: studio behind World of Tanks fires creative director after he supported the Ukraine war. The company also donated a million dollars to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Embracer Group, the company behind the developers of Neverwinter and Star Trek Online, has also donated $1 million to organizations such as the Red Cross and ACT Alliance in support of Ukraine (via mmorpg.org.pl).

How do gamers and streamers react? The well-known YouTuber HandOfBlood, for example, promised to refrain from “typical silly intensity and provocative harshness,” but also wants to offer a way to escape reality with his content.
Other streamers organized fundraisers or refrained from streams that featured war games. Unge and some other streamers didn’t go online on the day of the invasion because they had to digest it themselves first.
Players in ESO and FFXIV, in turn, have decided to protest with various actions for peace in Ukraine:
