The Weekend League in FIFA 22 aka FUT Champions Has received another overhaul that significantly improves qualification as well as rank advancement and also rewards. With the new WL system, significantly more players should now be able to participate to earn great rewards such as coins, packs, Champions qualification points as well as special cards. On this page we will show you how you can qualify for the new Weekend League in FIFA 22 in – Season 6, when the Weekend League starts and which changes the FUT Champions competition will bring to the game.
FIFA 22 Weekend League Qualifier: How to participate in FUT Champions Playoffs and Finals in FUT – Season 6
With FIFA 22 EA Sports has revised the Weekend League very much. This starts with the new name and goes all the way to the FUT Champions rewards very deep into the flow of the competition. The biggest change, however, is that FUT Champions is now a two-tiered system, split into “FUT Champions Playoffs” and “FUT Champion Finals,” which you can / must qualify for individually. With FUT 3 – Season , however, EA Sports has lowered the hurdle significantly, so that entry is now much easier. How you can qualify for the respective rounds, we explain below.
How to qualify for the FUT Champions Playoffs
To qualify for the “FUT Champions Playoffs” (the first round of the new Weekend League) in FIFA, you only need to earn 1,250 Champions Qualifying Points since – Season 3 (before that it was 2,000 in – Season 2 and 1,500 in – Season 1). You can earn them either by earning Division Rivals in FUT 22, as before, or by bringing them with you from the previous Champions Finals (more on this below). Once you’ve earned the required Qualifying Points, you’ll automatically be able to participate in the Play-Offs when you’re ready.
How to qualify for the FUT Champions Finals
To qualify for the FUT Champions Finals in FIFA 22 you have to collect at least 20 Finals Qualification Tokens in a maximum of 10 playoffs matches in FUT – Season 6 – for every win you get 4 tokens and for every defeat you get 1 token. This makes it easier for many players to enter the finals in – Season 3, as it now only requires 4 wins in 10 games. In – Season 2 and 1, 24 tokens were needed, which required 5 wins in only 9 games.
By the way, there is no such thing as a tie in the playoffs. If there is a tie at the end of the period, there will be overtime followed by a penalty shootout. If there is an “accidental” disconnect, there are no points, but the game is still counted towards the 10 matches.
To qualify for the FIFA 22 FUT Champions Finals you only have to get 20 points at the playoffs since – Season 3.
What to do if you didn’t qualify for FUT Champions?
If you fail to qualify for the finals in the FUT Champions playoffs, in theory this does not mean the end of the competition for you. You can start all over again and try your luck once more. In practice, however, this means that you will have to earn another 1,250 Champions Qualifying Points in Rivals in order to advance to the playoffs, where you will have to earn another 20 tokens. So a new attempt is possible, but it costs a lot of time. Note, however, the limited number of Champions participations.
Is it possible to repeat the qualification an unlimited number of times? (Remaining Champions Participations)
No! So that the whole thing doesn’t become too unfair and long-time players with enough time can always play their way up to the finals, the participation system has been limited. Means: In each 6 weeks long FUT – Season you have only 7 attempts in the Champions competition. Each attempt counts for both the Champions Play-Offs and Champions Finals (if you qualify for the latter). How many attempts you have left is shown in the “Remaining Champions Participations” item at the bottom left of the Champions window.
How to get Champions Qualifying Points?
You can earn Champions Qualification Points in FIFA 22 in two ways, which we will explain to you in the following. By the way, Champions Qualifying Points don’t expire, they stay with you until you use them. You can even take them with you into the next – Season .
- Play FIFA 22 Division Rivals and collect weekly rewards! You always have access to this game mode and there are no special requirements. On top of that, you can even collect other rewards. Each game will also always give you a certain amount of FUT Champions Qualifying Points and on top of that there will be more Qualifying Points at the end of each week – exactly how much always depends on your performance and your division.FUT Champions Qualification Points per Rivals Match

So it’s basically like before in the Weekend League from the Gold rank on, except that at the finals you already get 500 points even at the lowest rank, because the difficulty level is much higher, and at the top ranks you even get up to 1,250 points. Accordingly, you can automatically qualify for the next FUT Champions Playoffs from rank 5 or better

FIFA 22 Weekend League Start – All dates from FUT Champions
The first Weekend League in FIFA 22 already starts on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. and ends on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Thus, the competition already starts one week earlier than it was the case in the last FIFA spin-off. As with last year’s Weekend League, the FUT Champions competitions follow a fixed schedule:
- Start of the FUT Champions Finals (Weekend League): every Friday at 9:00.
- End of FUT Champions Finals (Weekend League): every Monday at 9:00.

Like last year, the FUT Champions competitions will take place from the beginning of October 2021 until the end of September 2022. In total, you can compete in 50 rounds and collect lots of rewards. FIFA 22 FUT Champions Playoffs and Finals explained – how the new Weekend League works.
EA Sports has not only simply renamed the Weekend League, but also tried to make the competition accessible to more players and minimize the time required. The result is the FUT Champions mode.
What is FUT Champions?
FUT Champions is the new name for the former Weekend League and represents the highest level of play in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. Players who have qualified for FUT Champions compete against each other in a limited number of matches to earn points and reach the highest possible position on the ladder. Depending on the ranking, players can earn high value rewards such as coins, packs, Champions Qualification Points and special cards.
In FIFA 22, Rivals, FUT Champions Playoffs and FUT Champions Finals go hand in hand.
What are Champions Playoffs and Finals?
The Champions Playoffs are the first round of the new FUT Champions competition. To qualify for them, you need Champions Qualification Points, which you can earn in Rivals. The Champions Finals are the second round of the FUT Champions competition and basically what the Weekend League used to be. In order to participate, you have to earn points in the previous playoffs. Both playoffs and finals bring their own rewards.
What has changed in the Weekend League in FIFA 22?
At first glance, FUT Champions looks like the former Weekend League, but the closer you look, the more differences you’ll notice. Here are the most important key points:
- The Weekend League has now been renamed FUT Champions and split into two rounds of competition. The first round is called “FUT Champions Playoffs” and the second round “FUT Champions Finals”.
- The playing time of FUT Champions has now been extended to the whole week: playoffs can be played at any time (even during the week), while the finals take place over the weekend like the former Weekend League.
- Instead of the previous victory-based system, a points-based system is now used. This has the great advantage that even if you lose, you still make small progress and get a reward.
- The former prize classes (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Elite and Top 200) no longer exist. The Top 200 has been integrated into Rivals as “Elite” and the rest are gone. Instead, there are now the Champions Playoff and Finals rewards.
- Instead of the 30 matches of the former Weekend League, you now only have to play up to 10 matches in the Playoffs and a maximum of 20 matches in the Finals. With this, EA Sports wants to make the mode less time-consuming.
- The FUT Champions are part of the new FUT overall – Season s. Each – Season lasts around 6 weeks. In each – Season you will have a limited number of attempts (7) to qualify and participate in the competition.
Can you play FUT Champions on different platforms?
Yes! Whether you play on PS4, Xbox One, or PC, each Champions campaign is a different competition.
