FIFA 22 FUT Captains und Hero Upgrades: Team 2 & Mini-Release live!

FUT Fantasy brought some nice cards to 22 and the Showdown series provided us with SBCs.

But the FUT Captains are the next big for Team.

The “professional” leaker FUTSheriff had announced again and again that we will see the FUT Captains promo soon. Now we finally have the certainty that FUTSheriff is never wrong. The FUT Captains event in FIFA 22 has started!

What are FUT Captains in FIFA 22?

The Captains bring improvements to the Heros as well as a promo team. The Heroes were probably THE innovation at the start of FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. A total of 19 heroes from different leagues were brought into the game as special cards. The nice thing about it? Mario Gomez, Hero of the Bundesliga, links for example with all other Bundesliga players green.

In this, the Heroes differ, for example, from the popular icons, which automatically have a normal link to each player. With the Heroes there are new possibilities for team building – and having more options is always nice! But unfortunately the Heroes dropped a lot in their strength during the FIFA year… the FUT Captains Promo should change that and make some of the Heroes playable again!

When will FUT Captains be available in FIFA 22?

The promo has been launched on Friday, April 8th. Release time was, as always, promptly at 19:00.

How do the upgrades of the FUT Heroes and Captains work?

The FUT Captains event is about one-time upgrades to the Hero cards. In addition, teams come with new cards, the FUT Captains. Unlike Headliners or OTW players, they are not dynamic and will not be upgraded continuously.

Furthermore, they are also supposed to be released only for a limited time, so after the promo they disappear from the packs again and only the previous Heroes can be drawn. If that’s true, we don’t find that so nice somehow. Would be cooler to be able to pull the stronger versions of the heroes permanently as rewards. Indulge us, EA…

FUT Heroes and Captains card design

The design is not the burner. The C in the background stands for Captain – but EA could have come up with fancier cards with a captain’s armband or something.

Which FUT Heroes are worthwhile?

While they were pretty hyped with the community at first, it quickly became apparent that many of the FUT Heroes have no long-term place in the best teams. The reasons? There are several:

  1. Some heroes (Al Jaber, for example) the league holds back due to difficult links
  2. Heroes with lousy stats
  3. Due to the crash of the transfer market there were quickly better & cheaper alternatives.

In the end there were only a handful of Heroes left to be really happy about in FIFA 22. David Ginola is probably by far the best Hero in Ultimate Team and cost over 800K Coins for a long time. Besides that you can only find Abedi Pelé, Antonio Di Natale or Iván Córdoba in some teams – the rest is almost never played and doesn’t cost anything anymore. Will this change with the upgrades?

FIFA 22 – All upgrades of the FUT Heroes

We made the effort and collected all Heroes in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team – we will upgrade their ratings when they are released during FUT Captains.

FIFA 22 – FUTs

What could be cooler than just relaxed and doing some sofa sports on the side? In FIFA 22, the player is on the move fast, but without getting sore muscles. With the Ultimate Team Event cards, the collecting instinct is now also satisfied. However, the FUT Heroes keep creeping into my mind, so here are the best Ultimate Team Event cards that are definitely worth adding to your collection.

Heroes cards selected by EA for top qualities

Admittedly, the FUT heroes will cost quite a bit of coin, but it turns out that EA has once again brought some top-class players into the game when it comes to selection. As a collector and hunter, it’s an added attraction for FIFA gamers to now include their own favorite heroes in the portfolio and benefit from their individual skills. Both in the game and in team building, the FUTs will revolutionize the game once again.

EA SPORTS FC: FIFA GAME SERIES TO BE CONTINUED UNDER NEW NAME

Of course, the soccer simulation game series will not be discontinued completely. After FIFA 23, EA will relaunch the game under the name EA Sports FC and market it independently. Old FIFA hares should now become quite an ear, after all, the EA Sports Football Club used to be a part of the actual game for years. A lot of playing was rewarded, points could be collected and items, boosts or balls for the individual game modes could be unlocked.

In this context, there could also be a complete revolution of the classic game. There is a heated discussion in the FIFA community about whether the game, which is expected to be released in the fall of 2023, will be free-to-play. This option is said to be on the table for the game makers from EA, because: It seems that EA earns most of its money with the purchases of FIFA Points in the game mode Ultimate Team and not with the sale of the game itself.
