The most popular mode in the FIFA series reinvents itself for the upcoming installment in the series. EA Sports has presented the innovations of FUT 21. We’ll tell you what to expect in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.
Eleven new icons complete the roster in FIFA 21 , but the new FUT 21 trailer had even more to offer. In addition to the well-known co-op mode , a number of other innovations await you this year. We will introduce you to all the changes to FIFA 21 Ultimate Team in detail.

FUT-Buy
Squad Battles , Division Rivals and FUT Friendlies can all be played cooperatively with two players in FIFA 21 . One of the biggest wishes of the FIFA community has finally come true.
From the FUT 21 main menu, all you have to do is hold R2/RT to invite a friend to the game. Whoever sets up the lobby automatically becomes the team captain and has the choice of which FUT team to use and which mode to play.
Similar to Squad Battles, Division Rivals in FIFA 21 will limit the number of weekly ranked games . A co-op game consumes one of the ranked matches for both participating players.
If a player has already completed his games, the match is no longer counted for both participants. However, coins and skill points can still be collected. The skill rating in match making is based on the higher rated player.
So if one is in Division 9 and the other is in Division 3, you are playing against Division 3 opponents. However, progress for the lower player is counted as if you were playing against opponents in your own league.
FUT-Koop-Events
Away from the actual pitch, there will be FUT events where you complete in-game challenges together to unlock special rewards. There will be two new types of events in FUT 21:
In community events , all players contribute to a global pool of XP in a specific category, unlocking unique rewards for all players who complete at least one objective in a group.
In the team events , the community chooses one of two teams that compete against each other in a head-to-head duel. There are five teams to choose from at the start of an event, each with their own challenges and rewards.
The XP to be earned is calculated from an average value of the XP per participant. So teams with a particularly large number of players do not necessarily level up faster. At the end of the event , unique cosmetic rewards, coins or FIFA packs are available – even for the teams that do not emerge victorious from the competition.
Own FUT stadium
Previously, you could choose a real stadium for your FUT team, but that will change in FUT 21 with the introduction of your own FUT stadium . This will be highly customizable and will grow along with your crew .
Over time, you ‘ll unlock new stadiums, commentator nicknames, fan chants, goal visuals and more . In addition, your own FUT stadium grows in size and can also be optically adjusted. Even won trophies can be exhibited in your own stadium.
A total of 34 customizable slots are available in FUT 21 for the team and stadium. More opportunities for creative development than ever before. If you don’t feel like it, you can still fall back on the most famous stadiums in the world.
Division Rivals change
If you want to start from the solo mode Squad Battles in the online mode Division Rivals , you had to prove yourself in qualifying games. Each subsequent online match changed the rating of your own FUT team, this will change in FUT 21.
Alternatively, after completing your first 30 Squad Battles matches , you’ll earn a Division Rivals rating. So your skill in the game against the CPU determines how strong your opponents become in online matches.
EA Sports wants to appeal to newcomers in particular who had not dared to duel against human players after the first games. Alternatively, the well-known solution with five qualifying games is still available.
What is also new is that there is a one-time coin bonus for every promotion in the division . So if you make it from Division 7 to Division 6, you’ll get a decent cash injection. If you are classified in Division 5 after qualification, the money bonuses for leagues 10-5 are immediately on top.
In addition, a maximum number of rated games was introduced. The first 30 Division Rivals games per week count towards your rank, after which only Skill Points and FUT Champions Points beckon. Furthermore, there are six ranks in FUT 21 instead of the previous five levels to better subdivide the skill of the players.
The leaderboard for FUT Champions and Squad Battles has also been expanded to a top 200 list , meaning more rewards will be awarded.
Live FUT Friendlies
The house rules known from FIFA 20 are combined with the brand new Squad rules to provide new friendlies in FUT 21. The squad rules are special team requirements , which could be “maximum three players from a league” , “only silver players” or more complex requirements such as “maximum two players from a league, but 100 chemistry” .
Not quite the return of FUT Tournaments we were hoping for , but still nice.
Meaningful Moments-Karten
Previously, a player in FIFA Ultimate Team had six attributes : pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defense and physique. In FUT 21, individual attributes should be able to be adjusted even more individually.
Certain special cards, such as the Moments cards , now better reflect real-world performance. When Trent Alexander-Arnold received a Moments card for a powerful free kick, his short and long passing stats were automatically boosted as well. FUT 21 should enable a significantly higher increase in the corresponding value without the other stats also increasing.
Fitness and training cards are no longer available
This change should please longtime fans in particular. If the team previously had to be kept going with fitness and training cards, FIFA 21 Ultimate Team does without these cards.
So all players start a game with full fitness – without having to activate 15 team fitness cards in a Weekend League. Of course, fitness will continue to decrease over the course of a match if players sprint a lot.
The already useless training cards, which enabled short-term boosts of various values, are also completely eliminated this year. At the same time, the healing cards are also simplified : instead of offering a card for each type of injury, there is now only one healing item . Well, actually there are two: a gold rare and a gold common, which only differ in power.

EA SPORTS FC: FIFA GAME SERIES TO BE CONTINUED UNDER NEW NAME
Of course, the soccer simulation game series will not be discontinued completely. After FIFA 23, EA will relaunch the game under the name EA Sports FC and market it independently. Old FIFA hares should now become quite an ear, after all, the EA Sports Football Club used to be a part of the actual game for years.
