The first FIFA 21 patch of the new year is here. Title update 8 makes some changes to the football game and nerfs the strong team pressing, among other things. The powerful climbers are also weakened with the new update.

FIFA 21 Title Update 8 is here. Well, at least on the PC, which once again has to serve as a guinea pig. The new patch is expected to hit the consoles early next week and, among other things, takes on the much too strong D-Pad tactic team pressing .

Title Update 8 for FIFA 21 is now also available for download on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The changes to team pressing and step-overs are finally finding their way into the console version of the sports game, which should be clearly noticeable in the upcoming Weekend League .

Let’s start with the less exciting changes : In FIFA 21 Ultimate Team online games, i.e. the Division Rivals or the Weekend League , you will now only play with the ball that you have chosen yourself. Previously, the opponent’s leather was displayed. The hammer, right?

The gameplay changes in the new patch

Far more interesting are the changes Title Update 8 makes to FIFA 21’s gameplay , across each mode. So what is perhaps the most powerful skill move, the step-over, is noticeably weakened .

The climber has also been part of the standard repertoire for FIFA high-flyer Anders Vejrgang . EA Sports now wants to counteract this. Chaining multiple skill moves together makes them less effective. In addition, the animation has been slowed down and the small speed boost when executing has been weakened .

The team pressing that you activate via the D-Pad (control pad) is also less strong with the new FIFA 21 patch. For example, the active time has been reduced from 20 to 15 seconds , while the effect takes 2 seconds to kick in once activated.

In addition, the tactic no longer automatically activates again if the defending team gets the ball and then loses it again.
