In the FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) of FIFA 20 the Icon Swaps 3 have started. But what is actually hidden behind the cryptic term? Which icons are worthwhile and which are not worth the effort?
The Icon Swaps in the FUT mode of FIFA 20 are going into the third and last round. Since mid-March, soccer fans can once again earn powerful legend cards in the sports game, which usually cost a lot of coins.
What are the Icon Swaps in FIFA 20?
The Icons or Legends cards belong to the strongest players in FIFA Ultimate Team. These are soccer stars from the past like Jens Lehmann, Diego Maradonna or Ronaldinho.
With a lot of luck, icons can be drawn in card packs, alternatively you can buy the legends on the transfer market. They are an absolute enrichment for every team and turn out to be correspondingly expensive. But there is also a playful way to spice up your own team with icons. This is where the so-called icon swaps come into play.
You simply complete various tasks in matches against the CPU or in the online mode of FIFA Ultimate Team. FIFA 20 rewards players with Swap Tokens that can be exchanged for the 20 players that are part of Icon Swaps 3.
How many tokens are there and what are the tasks?
A total of 24 tokens can be earned, divided into two rounds. Players have until the end of April to complete the first round, after which the second starts. For the completion of each task 1 token beckons. These include, for example:
11 Liga Nos players in the starting eleven
So the tasks in the Icon Swaps are real grind challenges: Your own, best possible, team must be adjusted accordingly to complete the objectives. To get one of the coveted icons, you really have to work hard, and it takes several hours of play to complete all the tokens.
Icon Swaps 3: These players are in the game
The 20 players in Icon Swaps 3 are divided into three categories: Some of them cost as little as 6-13 tokens, while others cost 21 or more. In addition, you can buy a Prime Icon Pack for 9 tokens, which includes a guaranteed legend.
This, of course, allows for tactics. Do you complete all the tasks and buy Zinedine Zidane, who costs 23 tokens? Do you complete only a part of the tasks and treat yourself to a cheaper icon? Or do you divide the tokens among several icons? All this is possible.
The following players are in Icon Swaps 3:
6 to 13 tokens
- Litmanen (91) – 6 tokens
- Trezeguet (92) – 7 tokens
- Gattuso (90) – 7 tokens
- Laudrup (92) – 9 tokens
- Puyol (94) – 9 tokens
- Overmars (92) – 10 tokens
- Gullit (86) – 10 tokens
- Lampard (92) – 10 tokens
- Maldini (92) – 13 tokens
15 to 20 tokens
- Kaka (91) – 15 tokens
- Dalglish (90) – 16 tokens
- Rush (92) – 16 tokens
- Bergkamp (93) – 16 tokens
- Riquelme (92) – 18 tokens
- Maradona (95) – 19 tokens
- Petit (92) – 19 tokens
- Cannavaro (94) – 20 tokens
21 or more tokens
- Carlos Alberto (94) – 21 tokens
- Garrincha (94) – 21 tokens
- Zidane (91) – 23 tokens
There is an excellent overview of Icon Swaps 3 on FUTBIN, which also shows the transfer market price of the cards, as well as the price per token. But whether an Icon is worthwhile depends not only on the price. The players should also have something up their sleeve in terms of play.
Icon Swaps 3: These icons are worth it
Gennaro Gattuso
Prime Icon Moments
Despite being only 1.77m tall, the Italian is a real force in central defensive midfield. The defensive and physical stats are already outstanding. Per Chem-Style, the speed should be boosted a bit, for example by Catalyst or Engine – no one will get past Gattuso anytime soon.
Frank Lampard
Prime Icon Moments
10 tokens
For the part of the more offensive eighth, the Englishman is an excellent option. Shooting, passing and stamina are outstanding, but Lampard’s pace and defensive awareness are a little lacking. So: Shadow on it and off it goes.
Paolo Maldini
Mid-Icon
13 tokens
Paolo Maldini is not considered one of the best central defenders of all time for no reason – this is no different in FIFA 20. His stats are outstanding, for 13 tokens he is a real bargain.
Kaká
Prime icon
15 tokens
If you are looking for a strong all-rounder for the offense, you will find it with Kaká. For 15 tokens you get an absolute all-purpose weapon with outstanding values. Thanks to the Finesse Shot trait, his cut shots are also extremely dangerous.
16 Tokens: Rush, Bergkamp or Dalglish?
For 16 tokens, there are three outstanding strikers to choose from. Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish have a Weak Foot rating of 5 stars. Dennis Bergkamp’s Prime-Icon-Moments card doesn’t have that, but he already comes with outstanding shot values. The best option for us.
Emmanuel Petit
Prime-Icon-Moments
19 Tokens
The Frenchman is definitely worth the 19 tokens. An absolute force both at his usual position in the ZDM and as a central defender. Plus, he provides green links to one of the best nations in FIFA 20, it doesn’t get much better than that.
Capita
Prime Icon Moments
21 tokens
Capita’s Moments card isn’t cheap, of course. 21 out of 24 possible tokens are due – but in return you get the best right back in the game. If this is worth so much effort on this position, everyone has to decide for himself. The tokens can be used better, but if you already have a top team, you won’t go wrong with the Brazilian.
Garrincha
Prime Icon
21 tokens
The same applies to the Brazilian winger as to Capita. Apart from his Moments card, Garrincha is the best choice on the right side of midfield, but also in the right ZOM or on the wing. Unlike RV, however, this position is more fiercely contested. Messi, Salah, Bernardo Silva – all strong options.
