Here’s the situation:

• In WoW there is the trade chat, where just in the capitals a lot of stupid stuff is written.
• A typical, rather adolescent gag is to write the word “anal” and then link an item or skill from World of Warcraft.
• Twitch streamer Asmongold now talks about exactly his situation in a stream.

Ban in WoW for anales [Mal von Kil’jaeden]

That was the spell of Asmongold: It the moment, the expansion “Wrath of the Lichking” is due in WoW Classic – this brings the servers to the brink of collapse.

As Asmongold deals with time in a Twitch stream, he starts telling a story from 2008 around when the legendary expansion was originally released.

Asmongold was 17 years old at the time:

So I made one of those “anal jokes” in trade chat and I got reported. A gamemaster wrote me up and – everybody made some random anal joke – and I just put “anal” in front of the “mark of Kil’jaeden.” It was totally random – I just thought it was funny.

The GM then wrote to him and said: “We have banned your account and you can’t talk. The reason was what Asmongold had posted in the chat.

Asmongold felt like a “goddamn genius” when he won discussion

How did Asmongold break free from the spell? He says he simply asked if “anal” was a bad word.

The GM explains that the word is not bad, but if you add something to it, it becomes a bad word.

But Asmongold tells us he now asked the GM:

What do you think anal mal of Kil’jaeden means? This is a non sequitur. There is no sexual allusion here at all – it makes no sense at all.

And I actually won the discussion with the gamemaster and they took the ban back. I was 17 at the time: I felt so great, you can’t imagine. Like a goddamn genius, a mastermind. I outsmarted you again, Blizzard, I showed you!

What is a non sequitur? The “magic word” that Asmongold used here to convince the Blizzard GM refers to a “fallacy in an argument.”

Just because “anal” has a sexual connotation in some contexts doesn’t mean that every word you put behind it is automatically sexually charged.

“Anal mark of Kil’Jaeden” is therefore not sexually charged.

What’s behind it? It’s such a heroic story:

• The young Hercules strangled already in childbed beating.
• Asmongold defeated a feared Blizzards GM in a Speech Duel when he was only 17.

It’s no wonder he turned into such a magnificent guy.

Asmongold was able to escape the ban back then because of his brilliant mind. A few weeks ago, Blizzard banned him from WoW again, and he quickly got out of the ban as well. But some players suspect special treatment behind it:
