Excitedly, many players from the gaming community and fans of League of Legends are waiting for the MMORPG that Riot is developing to LoL. The boss, Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, now gives a concise interim status. Street has plenty of experience with MMORPGs: he was Lead Systems Designer for World of Warcraft for 5 years.
Yes, there are LoL champions in the MMORPG, but they are treated with respect
Who is speaking? The head of the LoL MMORPG is Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street. The belonged to the most famous employees of World of Warcraft in the period from 2008 to 2013. He worked there as a Lead System Designer and was always in contact with fans. When he joined Riot Games as Lead Game Designer in 2014, it was big news in the gaming scene.
In the meantime, Greg Street is head of development for the new LoL MMORPG.
What does he say? In a series of tweets, Greg Street writes more about the creatures and the state of the game:
As the head of this MMO team, I don’t have much actual work involved in creating things. One exception is that I brainstorm and solve problems that have to do with creatures. Especially with creatures that you’re fighting. That’s something I’ve been doing a lot. For work and also D&D and I love it.
For me, it’s satisfying to think about that content, about what the creatures represent on the creative side and how they fight from a gameplay standpoint. And then incorporating that into a (fantasy) oko system in a meaningful way.
I’m especially careful to never dictate to the team that they have to use my ideas. I enjoy seeing which ideas excite them and which ideas turn into nothing.
Thanks mostly to Legends of Runeterra, there are already quite a few creatures in the world, but (we and other games!) will need many more.
Note: We have adjusted an error and adjusted the “Thanks” to Legends of Runeterra”.
To this end, users on Twitter still asked him questions, some of which Ghostcrawler answered. One user asks if the bosses in Dungeons could be or become champions. The user imagines fighting a giant Cho’Gath and that makes him curious.
“We want to treat champions with a lot of respect,” Ghostcrawler explains. “I’m not saying you’ll never fight one of them. But we’re not going to just use them when we run out of ideas for bosses.”
A fight against Cho’Gath in the LoL MMORPG – Would you like that too?
How is the project doing right now? A user asked the MMORPG boss directly how the project is actually doing right now and if the boss has confidence in the project.
To this, Ghostcrawler answers confidently and explains (via Twitter) “It’s going well and I have A LOT of confidence in it. So does the team.”
Over the past few months, a bit of info about the LoL MMORPG has been coming to light. The game is still in the early stages of development. Videos or screenshots are not shared yet and there is no talk of an alpha yet.
But don’t worry, the LoL MMORPG will bring exactly what many fans are wishing for
