Price of the games: As usual with Pokémon, the ninth generation will also feature two different editions. You can choose between Pokémon Crimson and Pokémon Purple. In addition, a double pack version including a steelbook is also available for purchase.
- Pokémon Crimson: 59,99 Euro
- Pokémon Purple: 59,99 Euro
- Pokémon Crimson and Purple Twin Pack Edition (incl. Steelbook): 119,99 Euro
This was seen in the trailers: Back in February, The Pokémon Company showed the first clips from Pokémon Crimson and Purple, and then followed up with more trailers in August. Through these, good insights into the world and the gameplay could already be gained. In the first trailer, the region could be admired by day, evening and night. On August 3, fans learned that the new region is Paldea.
In addition, the two motorcycle-like legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon were introduced. In the story, you slip into the skin of a student at a very prestigious academy and can follow three storylines. One of them includes the classic journey to become the champ. For this, as in previous parts, you’ll have to defeat eight arena leaders and the league.
New Pokémon: Some of the new Pokémon in Pokémon Crimson and Purple have already been seen. Among them was Hefel, the cute Pokémon with elastic skin, or Kolowal, which can freeze its surroundings with its hard horns. In addition, the Pokémon now have a new feature, teracrystallization. This strengthens the type of a Pokémon or can even change it completely in some cases. You can catch the Pokémon, which sparkle like gems, in so-called Tera Raids, for which you can enlist the help of up to three trainers.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: You can choose between these three starter Pokémon
These are the starters: Of course, in Pokémon Crimson and Purple you can also choose from three different Pokémon at the beginning. As always, you have to choose between the types plant, fire and water. And the new starters immediately won the hearts of the fans. So you can look forward to Felori, Krokel and Kwaks right at the beginning of the journey.
This is Felori: Felori is a cat-like Pokémon of the Plant type and is introduced with the ninth generation. Thus, it makes its first appearance in Pokémon Crimson and Purple. The cute plant Pokémon quickly becomes miffed when its trainer pays more attention to another Pokémon.
This is Kwaks: Kwaks is a duck-like Pokémon of Water type and also makes its debut in Pokémon Crimson and Purple. It maintains its fancy quiff with a gel that its feathers secrete. Unlike regular ducks, however, Kwaks hates getting dirty.
This is krokel: Crocus is a Pokémon of the Fire type and bears a strong resemblance to a crocodile. This Pokémon will also be seen for the first time in the ninth generation of Pokémon. Croc can store heat in its skin scales and converts it into fire energy. When it gets angry, its hair glows brightly.
Developments of the starters: Unfortunately, there is no information about the developments of the starters yet. Should this change, you will find out here.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: The Legendary Pokémon await you
These are the legendary Pokémon: Of course, Pokémon Crimson and Purple has other Pokémon in addition to the cute starters. Among them are the legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, which are also the mascots of the new editions. Both Pokémon can transform into a kind of motorcycle, boat and glider and serve as a means of transportation in the new editions. Therefore, it would be possible to encounter the two legendary Pokémon earlier in the game, but that would mean that the final battle would feature a completely new legendary Pokémon.
This is Koraidon: Koraidon (pictured left) is one of the two new legendary monsters in Pokémon Crimson and Purple. The types of the two have not been exactly determined yet, but it is believed that Koraidon will be of the Dragon and Battle type. With its powerful legs, it can move all over the Paldea region. But also the water and the air are his home.
This is Miraidon: Miraidon (pictured right) is the second legendary Pokémon of the Pokémon Crimson and Purple editions. The Pokémon is believed to belong to the Dragon and Electro types. Miraidon is also capable of transforming its throat sac and chest into wheels to move through Paldea at lightning speed. Like Koraidon, it can also cross water or sail through the air through its body.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple – These New Pokémon Are Confirmed
These are more new Pokémon: So far, in addition to the starters and legendary Pokémon, seven other monsters are known that will make their debut in Pokémon Crimson and Purple.
- Felori – Type: plant, ability: emergency fertilizer
- Crocus – Type: Fire, Ability: Large fire
- Kwaks – Type: Water, Ability: Torrent
- Ferkuli – Type: Normal, Abilities: Scent cover, Gluttony
- Pamo – Type: Electric, Abilities: Statics, Inner Force
- Olini – Type: Plant/Normal, Ability: Early Alarm Clock
- Koraidon – Type: unknown, Ability: unknown
- Miraidon – Type: unknown, Ability: unknown
- Kolowal – Type: Ice, Skills: Bacon layer, Snow scraper
- Paldea Felino – Type: Poison/Ground, Abilities: Poison Thorn, H2O Absorber
- Hefel – Type: Fairy, Ability: Pacesetter
- Mopex – Type: Dragon/Normal, Ability: Expidermis
Some of the new Pokémon in Crimson and Purple also managed to capture the hearts of fans right away. When the first trailer revealed the pig-like Pokemon Ferkuli, the Internet really freaked out. There was a lot of artwork for the little piggy from the fans and also many expressions of love that celebrated the cute piglet.
This is Ferkuli: The Pokémon Ferkuli belongs to the Normal type and was one of the first new monsters introduced in the course of Pokémon Crimson and Purple. The Pokémon is considered shy and timid, but its rather chubby-looking body is deceiving. For Ferkuli consists largely of muscles, which it has trained itself in the search for food.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: Old Pokémon in a new guise – Paldea forms to come
These are Paldea forms: You can also meet old companions in Pokémon Crimson and Purple. However, some of the Pokémon from previous generations will get a new coat of paint. Because in the new editions it will be possible to discover Pokemon in their special Paldea form, such as Paldea Felino.
However, a Pokémon’s Paldea form changes not only its appearance, but also the type and attacks of that monster. Familiar Pokémon can appear in Pokémon Crimson and Purple, that is, in a completely new light. Alternative Pokémon forms already existed in the Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield editions. There we could enjoy the ALoLa and Galar variations of the Pokémon.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple – The Mysterious Teracrystallization
This is the new battle technique: Arguably one of the most interesting new features in Pokémon Crimson and Purple are the teracrystallizations. These form an entire new battle technique in the ninth generation of Pokémon and could have a big impact on the competitive part of the game.
Once in battle, your Pokémon can perform a teracrystallization through what is called a tera orb. This changes its appearance and it starts to shimmer like a diamond, plus it gets a fancy crown. But more importantly, the Pokémon’s type also changes and attacks are strengthened. This can make it much harder to prepare for certain type compositions in Pokémon battles.
The type into which the corresponding Pokémon transforms depends on its Tera type. The additional tera types are individual for each Pokémon and cannot be changed.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: Open World in the Paldea Region – What to Explore
This is the Paldea Region: Pokémon Crimson and Purple is set in the Paldea region. To the delight of many fans, the ninth generation will also be the first to offer players an open world. The developers obviously based the map on Spain and Portugal. Both countries are very similar to the Paldea region.
The landscape in Pokémon Crimson and Purple promises not to be boring. For Paldea offers high mountains, beautiful coasts, lush grasslands as well as wastelands.
Spain as inspiration: There are many signs that the Paldea region in Pokémon Crimson and Purple is heavily based on the Spanish landscape. Among other things, a castle that is extremely reminiscent of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona has already been seen in a trailer for the game. Managing Director Junichi Masuda also visited the neighboring country of Portugal during the production of Pokémon Crimson and Purple.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: Finally go out with friends – four-player co-op mode.
Pokémon together with friends: For the first time in the series, Pokémon Crimson and Purple will allow you to play with three friends at the same time. Thus, you will no longer have to go on a journey alone to become the very best trainer, but will be able to do so with the support of your friends.
Exactly what co-op mode will look like in Pokémon Crimson and Purple is not yet known. However, in the game’s second trailer, four trainers could already be seen competing against each other in battle. Three of them used Paldea Region starters and another trainer used the popular Electric Pokémon Pikachu. This could indicate that Pikachu may be caught early in the game or even serve as an optional fourth starter Pokémon.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: These Are the Differences Between the Editions
These are the differences: As with previous generations, you can choose between two editions when you purchase. In this case, between crimson and purple. Probably the biggest difference is in the respective legendary Pokémon of the edition. Because there you get either Koraidon or Miraidon. In the following list you will find all the important differences between the two editions:
- Protagonist outfit colors: Crimson (Red), Purple (Purple)
- Professors: Crimson (Prof. Sada), Purple (Prof. Turo)
- Different legendary Pokemon: Crimson (Koraidon), Purple (Miraidon)
- Exclusive Pokémon: Some Pokémon will only be exclusive to that edition. So to complete your Pokédex, you’ll need to trade with a trainer who owns the other edition.
Pokémon Crimson and Purple: All Monsters Under One Roof with Pokémon HOME
Ninth generation compatible with Pokémon HOME: On the official press website of Pokémon, it has already been confirmed that Pokémon Crimson and Purple will have access to Pokémon HOME. With Pokémon HOME, you have the option of using captured monsters from other, older editions and integrating them into your new team. You can also transfer monsters from Pokémon GO. However, it is still unclear whether you will be able to take your old Pokémon on the road with you when the ninth generation is released.
