Esports Team Boss Faces Riot’s Wrath

Andy “Reginald” Dinh is a former professional player and founder and boss of Team SoloMid. However, a Washington Post insider report painted a bad picture of him. He was said to insult employees and kick out people who asked nasty questions. Now he has been officially condemned by developer Games.

This is the situation:

Fines, leadership training, and probation for 2 years.

What does the report say? announced via their website that they have brought in an independent investigator to review Doublelift’s allegations. This investigator concluded that Andy “Reginald ” Dinh engaged in the practice of disparaging and harassing behavior.

However, this conduct was allegedly limited to player or employee performance and did not relate to gender, nationality, or sexual orientation. The report states:

It also included calling professional players and TSM staff names and speaking in demeaning and derogatory ways. Nearly all witnesses agreed that Dinh’s outbursts and name-calling were generally limited to the perceived performance of a player or employee.

None of the witnesses can recall a situation in which Dinh’s offensive behavior was directed at a protected group (race, gender, age, sexual orientation, sexual identity, etc.), and there were no reports of actual or threatened physical violence toward a TSM player or staff member.

What is the verdict?

  • TSM has to pay a fine of 75,000 euros. This is three times the amount of a single offense because of multiple offenses by Reginald over the years. The money will be donated by Riot to an anti-bullying or mental health organization.
  • Andy “Reginald” Dinh must undergo sensitivity training and leadership training – within the next 60 days.
  • Reginald will only work in the Riot ecosystem on probation for the next two years. If there is even one instance of misconduct, further sanctions are to follow.

Already TSM itself came to a similar conclusion in its own investigation. The team committed to sending all managers to coaching sessions. In addition, a hotline is to be set up for employees to complain anonymously. This is now being installed by Riot Games itself.
