The #WorldCup2022 in Qatar is just under six months away. Normally, the World Cup would now take place in June/July, but the first winter World Cup in Qatar is making a huge mess of the schedule. Instead, the #UEFANationsLeague will be played in the summer, in which Germany will play Italy, England and Hungary. European runner-up England will be challenged in World Cup Group B, then it’s against the USA, Iran and a team from Europe, which won’t be played until June. We now take a look at the World Cup Group B.

Who will play in the World Cup Group B?
European Championship runners-up England were drawn as the group head of Group B in the World Cup draw on April 1. For the Three Lions it starts on November 21 against Iran, on the same day the USA plays against the UEFA participant, which is still to be determined on 1.6. and 5.6. respectively. Due to the Ukraine conflict, some matches have been postponed. First of all, the national teams of Scotland and Ukraine will play against each other on June 1, followed five days later by the deciding match between Wales and the winner of the first match. Thus, the World Cup 2022 Group B would be complete.
Who will win the World Cup Group B?
The favorite here is, of course, the English national team, which is peppered with stars such as Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden. Not without reason, the English Premiere League is considered the strongest league in the world, as many English national players play here. But they haven’t won the World Cup since 1966, and even missing out on EURO 2021 was only partly a balm for the English soul. Nevertheless, England should be the group winner here, as number 5 in the FIFA world rankings, the best team in this World Cup group.
The U.S. national team could only punch its ticket to the finals behind Canada and Mexico in the North American qualifiers. After missing out on the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, however, participation is already a respectable achievement. You won’t find any big soccer stars in the country of basketball, American soccer and cricket.
Of all things, the arch-enemy Iran has to compete in the group against the Americans and the English. As a permanent guest at the World Cup, however, they never made it past the preliminary round, and this time will probably be no different.
Ukraine has a chance to participate in the World Cup in Qatar – it would be a sign for the battered country, after all, Russia lost its participation in the playoffs. Their opponents will first be Scotland and then Wales. For England, a brotherly duel would be possible with the neighbor from the island, which would make this constellation even more interesting!
Where does the World Cup play group B?
In Qatar, the stadiums are only a maximum of 55 kilometers apart. Short distances for the fans and the teams in the small desert state on the Arabian Gulf. England will initially play in the large Khalifa Stadium, which is reminiscent of the home Wembley Stadium due to its large arch. But three games will take place in the Ahmed Ali Stadium, the last two in the Al-Bayt Stadium (where the opening game will also be played) and in the al-Thumama Stadium, which is located in the south of Doha. All in all, small stadiums were chosen here except for the 1st England game.
Who will advance and how will they advance to the round of 16?
England enters the tournament as group favorites and should play the runner-up of Group A if they finish 1st in the World Cup Round of 16. The runner-up of the World Cup Group B would play against the Group A winner. England could play against Senegal, if the Netherlands will be the group winner A. Should the USA secure second place in the standings, a clash against the Netherlands would probably be the end of the tournament. England would then play the winner of Group D or the runner-up in Group C in the World Cup quarterfinals. France (winner of Group D) or Poland or Mexico (runners-up in Group C) would probably be waiting here. Of course, England against France would be a hammer opponent at an early stage of the tournament.
