Elysium secures third World First in a row

Last night, the start of the World First of the King’s Fall raid fell in . The best keepers of the loot shooter had gathered at 19:00 under the watchful eyes of Bungie. They all wanted to be the first team to topple Oryx again. We’ll tell you who came out on top and how close the race was.

Which Raid race are we talking about? In Destiny 2 yesterday, the legendary “” raid celebrated its return to Destiny 2. Bungie had revealed it in the big showcase as the next legacy raid that may leave the Content Vault.

Although the launch date was not ideal with a Friday at 7:00 pm, many well-known Destiny players still gathered together. They wanted to face the king again in the more difficult competitive mode of the World First race.

How long did the raid last? Although the Kingsfall raid has some encounters, the raid race, including all challenges, was decided after only 5 hours.

For comparison:

  • In the 2019 Garden of Redemption, the final boss fell after 6 hours and 13 minutes.
  • The Day One Raid 2021 to the “Glass Chamber” succeeded in 1 hour and 43 minutes.
  • And the last Witch-Queen-Raid “The Oath of the Disciple”, which took place in March 2022, took 7 hours and 14 minutes.

Two of these records were set by the famous and elite Destiny 2 clan “Elysium” – in a row.

Kingsfall is a free-to-play raid in Destiny 2.

Just minutes after 00:00, lead team “Elysium” returned to orbit after successfully completing the final challenge. Shortly after, Bungie announced on Twitter, “We have reports of the first World-First completion of Destiny 2 Kingsfall.”

After a check to see if everything was above board, the result was then clear.

  • The team of Clan “Elysium” takes the title of World First for the Kingsfall Raid for the third time in a row. Their Fireteam of Cruz, Kyros, VileFate, Moople, Quazz and Saltagreppo completed the raid in exactly 5 hours.

At just after 01:00, Bungie made “Elysium” the official winner.

How close was the race? The fight for the PvE victory was a tough head-to-head race between the “Math Class” with Datto, “Elysium” with Saltogreppo, “UnparalleIed” with All-The-Players and Panora from “Silimar”.

Elysium brought a lot of confidence with them due to their previous victories. However, they couldn’t catch up with the other teams until around 22:35.

All_The_Players from “Unparalleled” were initially ahead of them with a finish after only 20 minutes in the Totem challenge. And Datto was also able to keep up, determined to finally break his personal curse in 2022.

Twitch streamer tries to win a raid race in Destiny 2 for years – misses World First by 3 minutes

However, he and his team suffered a setback while fighting the Daughters of Oryx. They were able to do some good damage with the Divinity and several Linear Fusion Rifles, but then blew the “Rage is Near” phase of the final boss.

Datto goes down and Elysium passes him by.

The Golgoroth passage was one of the most challenging encounters in the King’s Fall raid for many teams.

By the end of the raid race, it was clear to see that the fast sprints at the beginning of the Kingsfall raid had cost the initial leading teams a lot of concentration. Elysium, on the other hand, proved its solid raid marathon skills. This ensured that they still had enough stamina left, especially towards the end.

Also, another tactic used by several teams was to repeatedly mute the microphones in the livestream. Especially when mechanics or strategies were being discussed. The “competition” shouldn’t get an advantage if fans jumped from chat to chat to feed their favorite team the latest information.

This added to the tension: Already in the run-up to the raid race there were a few about locked equipment.

It felt like half of the gear and options in Destiny 2 were somehow locked, so players, like. KackisHD, got slightly sweaty hands a few days before the start of the new raid.

Destiny 2 wanted to make your grenade launchers a little stronger – But created true DPS monsters.

Kingfall raid starts only with small problems: Shortly after the starting gun, the next difficulties occurred. Some teams had access problems or could not join their raid team.

This immediately brought to mind the disaster of the “Oath of the Disciple” raid, which also got off to a bumpy start and then caused massive problems throughout the evening. However, Bungie reacted with a quick background maintenance, which apparently fixed the difficulties quickly.

What has changed in the Raid? Many players still knew the original King’s Fall raid from Destiny 1, and thus its tomb ship location and mechanics. Therefore, Bungie had slightly changed the totem encounter, for example. And visually, the raid has also changed quite a bit.

When the first teams arrived at Oryx, the raid’s final boss, it wasn’t just his immense size that was impressive once again. Bungie also gave him a fresh facelift, removing his yellow tint and him look better than ever.

Just how big the difference is could be easily seen in two comparison images from DestinyTracker.

On Twitch the kingsfall raid race was a hit

Those who didn’t run in it themselves were able to watch the exciting raid race on Twitch. The event gave Destiny 2 third place behind the streams of Just Chatting and League of Legends with 246,000 concurrent viewers.

On Datto alone, over 96,000 viewers tuned into the race to World First last night. That was just slightly more than Sweatcicle and Gladd (via twitchtracker.com).

And how did the German content creators do? Of course, our German Destiny 2 content creators were also at the start of the race. Among them were the lore expert AndyEdition with his clan Eclipse as well as Nexxoss and Hey_iPhil.

AndyEdition gives it his all in the “War Priest” encounter.

They delivered a solid performance with their teams and also best entertainment for the German spectators at the King’s Fall Raid. In the end, however, they couldn’t crack the top time of the elite clan Elysium.

AndyEdition, for example, reached the top in the normal, first raid run place 51 and 202nd place in Challenge Mode.

When does the challenge mode end? Tonight at 19:00 the competitive mode of the King’s Fall raid will end. The raid will still be free to play for everyone, but the opponents will no longer be as strong.

How did you experience the evening? Did you pay a visit to the king himself or did the mechanics kill you beforehand? What do you think about the fact that Elysium, with this third victory, was able to win another world championship belt? Feel free to leave us your comments here on MeinMMO.
