ends the cooperation with . From next year, the company’s soccer games will be called “”. Most of the licenses apparently remain untouched.

After previous rumors and hints, Electronic Arts announced today that the “FIFA” will continue under a different name. From 2023 you will have to get used to the name “EA Sports FC”.

The introduction of “EA Sports FC” has no impact on current soccer games. EA and FIFA want to release another game this fall that will run under the familiar label. Already promised more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players and competitions.

EA Sports wants to reach millions of new fans

“EA Sports FC” will henceforth be the platform for Electronic Arts to develop, create and expand new experiences in soccer. In doing so, the publisher hopes to bring “more areas of the sport to life and harness the collective power of more than 150 million players.” The goal, he said, is to reach “hundreds of millions of new fans” in the coming years.

“Our vision for EA Sports FC is to create the world’s largest and most influential soccer club at the epicenter of the soccer fan scene,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts. “For nearly 30 years, we’ve been building the world’s largest soccer community – with hundreds of millions of players, thousands of partner players and hundreds of leagues, federations and teams.”

Content and licenses appear to be changing quite little: “EA Sports FC” is said to benefit from 300 individual licensing partners, giving players access to more than 19,000 players across 700 teams, 100 stadiums and over 30 leagues around the world.

Wilson further stated, “We are grateful for our longstanding great partnership with FIFA. The future of global soccer is bright and the fan base around the world has never been stronger. We have an incredible opportunity to put EA Sports FC at the center of the sport and bring even more innovative and authentic experiences to the growing soccer audience.”

More news on FIFA:

Electronic Arts did not go into the reasons in today’s press release. However, it has been rumored for months that the publisher and FIFA could not agree on the license fees and other terms of the contract. Backgrounds to this you can read in this message.

According to rumors, Wilson told employees that the FIFA license was “an obstacle” to EA’s ambitions for the game series. Likewise, he is said to have stressed that the Association was preventing EA from providing players with the long-awaited modes. According to him, “FIFA” is no longer than the “name on the box”.
