League of Legends is in crisis with 2 of the best team in the world. The Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix loses after the LoL Worlds 2021 three of their best players with Tian, Doinb and Nuguri. DWG KIA is also in crisis: The top players Canyon, Beryl and Showmaker are free agents, top laner Khan has to join the military and there is real trouble around ADC Ghost.

That’s changing now at FunPlus Phoenix:

It started with rumors that top laner Nuguri would return to DWG KIA to replace Khan there. That would have been ironic, because Nuguri had moved from world champion DWG KIA to FunPlus Phoenix in 2020, replacing Khan.

However, that took a turn when Nuguri announced through his manager that he did not want to play LoL professionally in 2022. It was said that the South Korean Nuguri was in “overseas” for the first time in 2021, i.e. in China, and the stress would have mentally drained him. The pressure was too much for him and he wanted to take a break from e-sports (via inven).

Shortly after, it became public that Jungler Tian, the MVP of LoL Worlds 2019, would be leaving the team. It is not yet clear where he is going. Tian had been criticized a lot after Worlds 2021 – he was considered one of the reasons why things went so badly for FPX.

Furthermore, even the face of the team, Doinb, will leave the 2019 Worlds champion: The midlaner is moving to LNG Esports. He apparently wants to play together with the world-class jungler Tarzan.

Showmaker is currently considered the best player in the world.

At DWG KIA the situation of all 5 players is questionable

This is the situation at DWG KIA:

• DWG KIA has had a huge resurgence. A few years ago no one knew them, at LoL Worlds 2019 they trumped but failed to G2 in the quarterfinals
• In 2020 they were unstoppable and marched to the world champion team. Jungler Canyon and Midlaner Showmaker are considered to be absolutely exceptional talent and skills in League of Legends since the – Season .
• In 2021, they were similarly unstoppable and it took a mid-sized miracle for them to still lose 2-3 in the finals and only finish second.

What’s changing at DWG KIA? At DWG KIA, we reported on MeinMMO back in Aril 2021 that fans feared DWG KIA would be torn apart by offers from Chinese teams. After LoL Worlds, it looks like the “uber-team” is indeed crumbling apart.

As announced, top laner Khan will be leaving the team, having to do his military service with the South Korean army.

There is quite a drama around the ADC “Ghost” in South Korea the last days. He apparently wanted to leave DWG KIA and had contacted another team. The “other” team is NS Redforce – but he accused the team of lying to him and wasting his time.

But the CEO of NS Redforce said that’s not what happened, they made an offer that was rejected (via inven). Apparently there were misunderstandings between both teams and the player.

The situation of the 3 other starters of DWG KIA is still unclear at the moment: Supporter Beryl, Jungler Canyon and the currently probably best player in the world, Showmaker, are officially free agents. But DWG KIA has announced to offer them new contracts.

It seems that the three LoL stars are waiting to see how much money they will be offered by teams in the Chinese league, LPL;.

Currently, DWG KIA; the 2020 world champion, but does not have a player for 2022 as really sure as it seems.
