Until now, Twitch partners were exclusive to the streaming platform. That changed with a loosening of the rules. Former Twitch golden boy Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm IV (40) makes fun of the rule by purposefully violating it.
Who is DrDisrespect?
Two years after his ban, the doc is still breaking Twitch rules
This rule change is what it’s all about: Previously, Twitch partners were required to offer their livestreams exclusively on Twitch. This has now been relaxed.
However, there is still one important exception: streamers are not allowed to be live on Twitch and a platform like YouTube or Facebook at the same time.
Twitch changes important rule, now also lets partners to Facebook and YouTube – But not always
Here’s how DrDisrespect reacts: Controversy and provocation are the YouTuber’s trademark. So he wouldn’t be him if he didn’t use the opportunity to tease against Twitch. Via Twitter he therefore announced a special livestream.
What is this livestream? The livestream is to be a so-called simulcast. That means the doc will be on YouTube and Facebook at the same time. If you’ve ever wanted to know what the streaming experience is like on the social media platform, you can find DrDisrespect’s Facebook page here.
DrDisrespect is welcomed on “granny platform”.
These are the reactions: People are mocking Facebook on Twitter and reddit. The doc must have hit rock bottom to stream on Facebook after making fun of their gaming program so many times. (via Twitter)
Others would like to support DrDisrespect, but there’s a problem: they haven’t had a Facebook account for years. They wonder who even uses the social media platform anymore and if they can watch without an account.
Is there a plan behind it? Some fans sense a plan behind the action. If the stream is successful and the numbers are high, especially on Facebook, this could motivate YouTube to offer the doc an exclusive contract after all. (via Reddit)
In fact, that’s a sore point for DrDisrespect:
DrDisrespect’s mustache is crooked: Maybe because many Twitch streamers on YouTube are making big money right now – but not him
However, things could turn out quite differently. Instead of YouTube, Facebook Gaming could come up with the idea of buying DrDisrespect exclusively.
Facebook Gaming partner Erik “Poolshark” already welcomes the doc to “Grandmabook”. (via Twitter)
Do you still use Facebook, or is this the first time you’ve heard that you can watch livestreams there? What do you think about the idea of simultaneous streams? Feel free to leave us a comment with your opinion.
