Team Information :
Virtus.Pro is one of the most famous multigaming games in CIS and worldwide. The VP tag appeared in the esports arena way back in 2007. Since then, VP has grown from a small team into a massive organization whose rosters have repeatedly won top-flight championships. We present you the history of VP tag in Dota.
First Appearance or Defense Period of the Ancients
The first mention of VP’s Doter lineup dates back to 2007. In the first lineup, then still in the first Dota, they played:
- NS
- ARS ART
- vigoss
- admiration
- jolie
These five won three MYM Prime Defending events in 2007. A year later, in 2008, VP finished third at MYM Prime Defending 2008 and then disappeared from the esports radar. The bears returned back in 2012. Then the day was moved to the second dota.
First appearance or early years in Dota 2
VP moved to the second Dota in 2012. Then the composition contained:
- NS
- KuroKy
- santa
- Azen
- To fear
There was a transition in May 2012, but in June Azen and Dread were replaced by Blowyouurbrain and Scandal. With this lineup, VP attempted to break through to The International 2 but only finished 5th-6th in the qualifier from the West.
The squad also took part in several small tournaments, but the players didn’t have success there either. At the end of June 2012, NS and Santa remained on the team, and in the fall of the same year, KSi, Crazy, and Illidan joined the team.
2013 or a period of constant transformation
In March 2013, Santa Claus left the team, after which AST-ART returned to him. That year, VP received an invite to The International 2013, but in the group, the team achieves a score of 3-11 and then loses in the first round of the lower bracket.
After such a result, illidan, Crazy and KSi leave the team, after which ARS-ART was kicked out of the team. LighTofHeaveN, Goblak, G and Resolut1on replaced four players.
However, this formation only lasted two months, after which Goblak and Resolut1on left the team. In October 2013, ARS-ART returned to the team and Solo also debuted in the lineup. However, Solo didn’t have to play long as he went inactive in November 2013 and the team again waited for a replacement.
The reshuffle lasted until the end of the year, with players literally changing places. In 2014, the situation has not changed dramatically. VP tried to find their game but they couldn’t. In 2014, VP attempted to make it to The International 2014 but failed, finishing 18th–19th and failing to advance to the group stage of the tournament.
The situation began to change in 2015.
VP.Polar
As early as 2014, VP prepared a replacement location for itself. In 2014, the VP.Polar roster was formed, which became a permanent part of the organization by 2015.
The updated VP includes:
- Illidan
- God
- DkPhobos
- small
- fng
With this composition, the team performed at TI 2015, where they took 5th-6th place and sensationally defeated one of the favorites – Team Secret from the tournament. This result was the best for the organization in many years.
However, after such a successful performance at The International, the team went back down again. After failing to qualify for The International 2016, the team again faced a reshuffle. In August 2016, VP’s management decided to build a roster around Solo.
Revival of the CIS
At the time of the creation of the new Vice President, the CIS region was going through hard times. The teams could not compete on an equal footing with teams from other regions, so VP decided to take the lead in the CIS.
In September 2016, the first new roster was introduced. It included
- solo
- Nobody
- 9pasha
- RAMZES666
- small
The new squad was quick to announce their intentions, winning BTS Europe – No. 4 and qualifying for a number of major tournaments including The Boston Major 2016, Dota Pit League – Season 5 and ESL One Genting 2017.
At the first Major tournament the team finished 5th-8th, at ESL One Genting 2017 the club finished 3rd-4th and Dota Pit League – Season 5 VP finished 5th-6th.
The “average” results didn’t prevent the team from winning the qualification for The Kiev Major 2017. After that, VP presented the fans with one of the best tournaments in the history of competitive Dota. In the Kiev major, the team took 2nd place. However, the main test awaited them ahead – The International 2017, to which the team came by direct invitation.
In August 2017, the team started their performance at TI 2017. The team showed excellent results and finished 5th-6th. It lost to Team Liquid’s future champions in an epic battle. However, VP’s ambitions were higher, and so the team replaced Lil with RodjER in February 2018.
Dominance VP
After replacing the player in fourth position, VP started playing with renewed vigour. Almost immediately after the transfer, the ESL One Katowice 2018 team won, from which the VP procession began.
In March, Solo-led squad wins The Bucharest Major and two months later ESL One Birmingham 2018. In June, the team takes second place in China Dota2 Supermajor and easily reaches The International 2018. At the tournament, VP again takes 5 -6. Place that failed to break the organization’s record.
However, there were no changes in the lineup. In November 2018, the team wins the Kuala Lumpur Major, after which the vice president gradually kicks in.
The sunset begins
After the appearance in Kuala Lumpur, there was a significant drop compared to last – Season ‘s performances. The team started competing in small tournaments but still struggled in major championships. VP achieved 2nd place at The Chongqing Major and DreamLeague – Season 11 and 7-8 at MDL Disneyland Paris Major and 3rd place at EPICENTER Major 2019.
The squad made it to TI 2019 by direct invitation, but at the tournament itself, VP finished 9th-12th. After failing at TI, the team was again faced with a whirlwind of reshuffles.
In September 9pasha left the team and later RAMZES666. Resolut1on and epileptick1d took their places, and later Save- took RodjER’s place.
However, the new players in the squad could not assert themselves for a long time. In February, VP intercepted Zayac from NaVi, and in April, epileptic1d and Save- moved to VP’s youth team, which was named VP.Prodigy.
epileptic1d’s place was taken by iLTW, which completed the list. However, this did not affect the results. The squad couldn’t play. In September 2020 all players were placed inactive.
A new beginning
In November, VP repeated the technique they used in 2015: VP.Prodigy officially moved to the main Dota 2 roster. The new VP roster included:
- epileptic1d
- gpk
- DM
- Save-
- Iliad
Solo and No(o)ne left the organization after 4 years of playing. Along with Zayac, they have teamed up with RAMZES666 to form a new team.
Dota 2
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
