Team Information :

ViCi Gaming is one of the most famous multi-gaming companies in China. The greatest success of the organization has come through the roster, which will be discussed today.

First impression

The ViCi Gaming tag first appeared on the radars of the community in 2012. In September, the club was formed, and along with it, the first Dota 2 roster included:

  • sydm
  • Cty
  • Xtt
  • fy
  • Fenrir

Almost immediately after its formation, the team qualified for one of the most prestigious championships in the Chinese region – the G- – Season 2. At the tournament itself, the team took 5th-6th place and could not cope with the extremely high competition.

This happened in January 2013 and ViCi spent the next year trying to find a suitable lineup. In January, YaphetS joined the team, but they didn’t have time to really play for ViCi.

In March, ZSMJ joined the team and two weeks later a second roster was formed, lasting just a few months from March to June. In June, Fy and XTT left the team.

TuTu joined the team in July. In August, Cty leaves the team and Super and rOtK replace the deceased players. Later, Sylar’s lineup was completed.

During these wild lineup changes, ViCi managed to enter tournaments. And decent results on some of them. So, in 2013, ViCi became the winner of Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open – Season 2 and RaidCall EMS One Fall – Season . Both ViCi championships played with a completely new squad, with Super and rOtK.

One step away from championship

In 2014, ViCi Gaming is gaining momentum. From an average team of 5-6 places, the team has grown into a strong competitor.

In January 2014, the team placed 3rd in Dota 2 League – Season 4. After 2 months, they stopped one step away from the championship in – Season 3 of the Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open. The team later placed 3rd in the Netolic Pro League #5 East and 2nd in the WVW National Electronic Sports Classic April. The team later placed 3rd-4th at the 2014 MarsTV Dota 2 League, 3rd at Summit, and 4th at ECL SPRING.

ViCi Gaming approached the upcoming The International 2014 in “dark horse” status. At the tournament itself, however, the team made it clear that they would not give up without a fight. The team took first place in the first round of The International 2014, earning them a spot in the playoffs. In the main stage, ViCi made it to the grand finals where the team lost to Newbee 3-1.

After losing at The International 2014, rOtK and Sylar left the team. They have been replaced with Black and Ice.

After the roster changes, ViCi won i-League – Season 1, ESL One New York 2014 and The Summit 2. A of such successful performances breathed new life into the team.

In 2015, ViCi continued to gain momentum.

Attempt number two

In January 2015, ViCi finished 3rd in i-League – Season 2. In February, they stopped one step away from the championship at the 2015 Dota 2 Asia Championship.

After such a successful performance, Black ^ leaves the team, with Hao taking his place. In the updated list, ViCi wins VPGame Pro League – Season 1 and StarLadder StarSeries – Season 12 and also ranks 2nd in Dota 2 Champions League – Season 5.

In May, the team takes 3rd place at Summit 3 and 2nd place at i-League – Season 3. June begins with 4th place at MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Spring and ends with 5th-8th place finishes. Place at ESL One Frankfurt 2015 and World Cyber Arena 2015.

At the upcoming The International 2015, ViCi Gaming wants to take revenge last year. However, the team is unsuccessful. ViCi Gaming takes 4th place, losing to compatriots LGD Gaming.

After his appearance at TI 2015, Hao leaves the team and BurNing takes his place. By the end of 2015, ViCi was able to take 2nd place at the Nanyang Dota 2 Championship and 5th-6th place at the 2015 Frankfurt Major. In 2016, ViCi will face a series of mistakes and line-up changes

The dark time of ViCi

The beginning of 2016 was clearly not fixed for ViCi. In January, the team placed 5th-6th at the MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Winter. After that, ViCi failed completely at the Shanghai Major 2016. This was the starting point for the beginning of constant reshuffles.

Fenrir and Iceiceice leave the team in March. Following them, fy was transferred to Vici Gaming Reborn. In the same month ViCi announced a new roster with rOtK, Cty, Hym and jdh on the team. Later, jdh is replaced by Sylar.

It seems that ViCi should have become a formidable force in the Chinese region after putting together quite a weighty lineup with BurNing and rOtK. However, this has not happened. The team failed literally all championships. By the end of the year, ViCi took 2nd place once at World Cyber Aerna 2016 and then did it with a new squad.

In 2017, the epic continued with replacements. Ori joined the team in January. However, it was not particularly possible to change the results for the better. All 2017 ViCi competed in qualifying tournaments and did not achieve any particular achievements.

In 2017, just like 2016, the team finds itself outside of The International, once again marking the beginning of seemingly endless substitutions in the Chinese roster.

Paparazi, eLeVeN, Fenrir and LaNm will be added in September. Of the old players, only Ori remained on the team.

ViCi Gaming will play the next DPC – Season with this line-up.

period of instability

In 2018, the results improved significantly. ViCi began to take worthy places again. This was the case for Captains Draft 4.0 in January, ESL One Katowice 2018 in February, and Dota2 Professional League 2018 S1: Top. However, there were also failures such as the Bucharest Major where the team finished 12th-14th.

The end of spring and the beginning of summer for ViCi were also not particularly fixed. Although the team finished 3rd at the MDL Changsha Major in May, ViCi finished 10th-12th at the ESL One Birmingham 2018 later that same month. In June, 5th to 6th place at the China Dota2 Supermajor followed.

Nonetheless, the ViCi results allowed the team to go straight to The International 2018. At the championship itself over the 9-12. However, they did not manage to break through the line. After that, Paparazi and Ori stayed on the team. Fade and Dy entered the top 5 in September.

2019-2020 year and pandemic

With a renewed roster, ViCi entered a new DPC – Season . It started from 7th-8th place in the Chongqing Major. In March 2019, the team won the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor – Season 1, after which they cemented their success in DreamLeague – Season 11.

In May, the team placed 7th-8th at MDL Disneyland Paris Major and placed 5th-6th at ESL One Birmingham 2019. In June, the team won the EPICENTER Major 2019. At the upcoming TI 2019, ViCi showed promising results.

The tournament itself turned out to be quite good for the team: 5th-6th place. However, the matter was not without changes in the composition. In September, Fade left the band and was replaced by Pyw.

After The International 9, ViCi won Midas Mode 2-Asia and finished second in the MDL Chengdu Major.

Also in December 2019, ViCi won the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore.

2020 started with 3rd place finish in DreamLeague – Season 13, which was essentially the last major result for the team.

With the advent of the pandemic, ViCi, like all other teams, started competing in online championships. They could not boast of the status to which the TIR-1 players were accustomed.

In 2020, ViCi won OGA Dota PIT – Season 1: China in May 2020 and placed 2nd in BEYOND EPIC: China and OGA Dota PIT S2: China. The team later finished the DPL-CDA Professional League – Season 2, the final tournament for the current roster.

In September, ViCi announced a new lineup. It included:

  • old eleVeN
  • Erica
  • 23savage
  • original
  • Pyw
  • dy

Erica was essentially the sixth player to replace 23savage. With this line-up, ViCi OGA won Dota PIT S3: China, taking the 5-6.  at CDA-FDC Professional Championship – Season 2 and China Dota2 Pro Cup – Season 2.

Organization and awards

The Dota 2 squad manager is Xu XIaoyun. The captain’s armband is at Dy’s. ViCi has worked with brands like Douyu, HyperX and DXRacer.

Since the formation of the Dota 2 division, the various lineups have already brought the club over $8,800,000 in prize money.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.

Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
