Team Information:
Team Empire is a multi-gaming CIS organization. The club was founded back in 2004 and Empire rosters in different periods were present in Dota 2, Hearthstone, Call of Duty and League of Legends.
We present to you the history of Team Empire’s Dota 2 division.
First impression
For the first time, Team Empire appeared in the competitive Dota scene in December 2011. Then the team came to Dota from HoN, but the first tournaments started in 2012.
In April 2012, Team Empire participates in the Play4Dota 2012 championship series. The team wins at Play4Dota 2012 # 3 and Play4Dota 2012 # 6.
In this lineup they played:
- Beat Your Brain
- Scandal
- j4
- jackal
- ALWAYS WANNAFLY
In July, Team Empire will play in the first major tournament of the organization. It was StarLadder StarSeries – Season 2, in which Empire finished 5th.
Later, the team fails in The Defense – Season 2, where it finishes 13th to 16th. The result leads to substitutions in the composition.
In September j4, Jackal and ALWAYSWANNAFLY will leave the band. The places of the deceased players are taken by Goblak, Funn1k and Silent.
The updated roster immediately shows excellent results. The team wins Dota 2 LostWorld Cup # 1, joins DOTA Masters Special Edition II, atoD Showdown 2, RaidCall Dota 2 League – Season 1.
In addition, the Star squad lacks two won maps to win the championship at StarLadder StarSeries – Season 3. However, by the end of the year, the team also ranks 2nd in GosuLeague – Season 5 Division 1 and StarLadder StarSeries – Season 4.
By the end of 2012 Empire was one of the strongest and most respected teams in the CIS region. The players intended to continue the series of successful performances in 2013.
2013 – Season and the end of the “golden lineup”.
In January 2013, Empire won the 3rd – Season of the Premier League, beating VP 3: 0. However, after that, Empire’s results deteriorate significantly.
The team ranks 9th-12th in the third defensive – Season and failed to pass a number of qualifying matches for EMS One Spring. Permutations begin in the team.
In February, Funn1k leaves the team and Vigoss takes his place. A few months later, Goblak and Silent leave the club and are replaced by TwiSta and Mitch. Only a few days later Vigoss leaves and in his place his name is LighTofHeaveN.
The succession of such chaotic substitutions affects the results. Empire can’t get back into the swing of things and constantly struggles during tournaments. In some places they show good results, as was the case with Techlabs Cup 2013, – Season 1 and StarLadder StarSeries, – Season 5, but this is the exception rather than the rule.
The main failure for the whole year can be considered as missing. The International 2013. the team finished 5th to 8th in the qualification.
After the failure in the qualifiers for The International Team Empire, they tried to fix the game. It turned out to be bad for them, so in September the team waited for the next changes in the composition.
It all started with replacing LighTofHeaveN with Silent. Continued by joining the team VANSKOR and Mag ~.
Also in September, Vigoss left the team, but returned ALWAYS WANNAFLY. The last change in 2013 was the arrival of Resolut1on as a replacement for Scandal.
With the new squad, Team Empire managed to improve some of their performance results. The team managed to finish in the top three at StarLadder StarSeries – Season 7, placed 4th at WePlay Dota2 League – Season 2 and won the Electronic Sports World Cup 2013.
– Season 2014 and TI meet
In 2014, it was decided not to change the cast. The main priority was still to get to The International, and Empire started working on it.
At the beginning of the year they won CIS Carnage 2014, EIZO Cup No. 11, Techlabs Cup 2014, – Season 1, JoinDOTA League 2014, – Season 1, Europe. The team also placed 2nd in Electronic Sports Prime Shock Therapy Cup, 3rd in Dota 2 Champions League – Season 2, 2nd in MLG TKO Europe and StarLadder StarSeries – Season 9.
In June, the team has another series of successful appearances at major tournaments, ending with a victory in Dota 2 Champions League – Season 3. Empire’s efforts and successes were noticed and Valve invited the team to The International 2014.
Unfortunately, Empire didn’t show up properly at the tournament itself and was eliminated from the championship, finishing 13th to 16th. This led to lineup changes.
First, the team Vanskor left and Solo took his place. Mag ~ left the team in October and was replaced by Yoky.
By the end of the year Empire won Excellent Moscow Cup 2, finished 3rd in Dota 2 Champions League – Season 4 and won several qualifications. In December, Solo left the band and ALOHADANCE took his place.
2015 – Season
The new – Season started with a win in the StarLadder StarSeries – Season 11, and it continued with winning JoinDOTA Masters XV and JoinDOTA MLG Pro League – Season 1.
Also this year Team Empire won Dota 2 Champions League – Season 3, took 2nd place at MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Spring and Esportal Dota 2 League. The result of successful performances was an invitation to TI 2015.
At The International 2015 itself, Empire did better than the previous time. The Imperials managed to take 9th-12th place, but this was not enough for the club’s management.
According to TI, the roster will be changed and the new roster was announced on August 25, 2015. The new roster includes: Silent, Resolut1on, ubah, ALOHADANCE and The_apathy.
However, the aforementioned composition did not reach significant heights and therefore did not last long. First, Ubah and The_apathy left the team and were replaced by Yoky and Nofear. Later, Yoky himself left the club and his slot was taken over by GeneRaL, which, however, later went to EPG.
XBOCT and Funn1k joined the squad in December.
2016 and the search for the optimal composition
The 2016 – Season was clearly not the best for Team Empire. For most of the year, the team experimented with lineups, and the team’s best performance was winning BTS Europe – No. 2 and finishing 9-12 at The Manila Major 2016.
The chronology of replacements was as follows: At the beginning of the year Resolut1on left, followed by XBOCT. Later, Funn1k leaves, after which EMPIRE dissolves the entire lineup. The new roster includes: RAMZES666, Scandal, Afterlife, Miposhka and KingR. However, the exchange doesn’t stop here.
Scandal, RAMZES666 and Afterlife leave and Ghostik, ALOHADANCE and God arrive. Literally a month later, however, ALOHADANCE and God leave.
Continuation of a banquet or attempt to regain its former greatness
The following years were not much different from 2016. In 2017, Empire managed to “shoot” once at The International 2017, when the team of Resolut1on, fn, Ghostik, RodjER and Miposhka finished 7th-8th and lost to the champions year, Team Liquid.
For the rest of the year, Empire was still trying to find their game and experimenting with lineups. We experimented a lot and sometimes players didn’t stay with the team for more than a few weeks.
The trend continued in 2018. The best result in major tournaments was 11th-12th place at EPICENTER XL. Empire participated more and more often in low-ranked tournaments, but even there they often encountered difficulties.
The constant turnover of players and the opening of Empire Hope’s youth team did not help.
Empire in 2019-2020
In 2019, Empire participated less and less in major competitions. One of them was the performance at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, where the team consisting of Dream ‘, Kodos, Maggots, Sayuw and KingR finished 13th to 16th.
In the 2020 online period, the results left much to be desired, but there were still gaps.
The team finished 1st in the Vulcan Fight Series, 2nd in the ROG Community Cup – Season 2, and 2nd in the Arena of Blood – Season 2.
However, there were also 11th-12th place in OMEGA League: Europe Divine Division, 7th-8th place in BTS Pro Series – Season 3: Europe/CIS.
Constant trials with the composition have not yet ended. In 2021, the bet was made on young players, and the list included: Smiling Knight, Gwynbleidd, Petushara, Sayuw and EcNart.
The team managed to qualify for the first ESL One CIS Online – Season and finished 9th-12th in Snow Sweet Snow No. 1.
Organization and Awards
The CEO of the organization is Mikhail Barashkov, and the manager of the Dota 2 roster is Andrei Lozinskiy.
Team Empire cooperates with Seagate and Lotto.
Since its inception, the Dota 2 division has already brought the organization over $2,000,000 in prize money.
Dota 2
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
