We present to you the history of the Dota 2 division.

For the time on esports radars in Dota 2 appeared RNG in September 2018, then the first composition was registered, which included the following:

  • Monet
  • Setsu
  • Srf
  • ah fu
  • 343
  • By the end of the year, the newly formed Chinese team could make a good statement about itself.

2018 – Season and first results

The RNG team made its debut at The Kuala Lumpur qualifiers in the Chinese region. In the open qualifiers, RNG did not find worthy opponents for themselves, but already in the closed rivals they were much stronger. The team finished in 5th-6th place.

Next was the performance at the DreamLeague – Season 10 China Qualifier. There, RNGs, who had gained some experience, showed excellent play and took 1st place to secure a spot at the event.

Qualifiers for ELS One Hamburg 2018 and 2018 Sanya DOTA2 New-Stars Play followed, where RNGs did not show their best game.

In November 2018, the team appeared in the first major tournament for themselves, DreamLeague – Season 10, where the team did very well, finishing in 3rd place.

Unfortunately, at the end of the year, the five Chinese could not repeat the DreamLeague result. The team finished 12th-14th in H-Cup – Season 10, 5th-6th in Chongqing Major China Qualifier, 4th in Bucharest Minor China Qualifier, and ESL One Katowice 2019 China Qualifier.

In December 2018, the team stopped at the 5-6th line of H-Cup – Season 11 and the 9-11th line of H-Cup – Season 12.

The disappointing results at the end of the year led to changes in the team. September joined the team instead of 343.

2019 – Season

The second – Season started on a very positive note for RNG, with the team making it to the 2019 Macau MDL and once again making it to the closed qualifiers without any problems, this time for DreamLeague – Season 11.

However, in the closed qualifiers itself, the RNGs only finished in 4th place. However, the defeat did not break the team and RNG managed to break through to StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor.

Along with good results, changes in the team began: in February LaNm strengthens the team on the 5th place.

In March, RNGs participate in several important tournaments at the same time. The first was MDL Macau 2019, where the Chinese Five took the 5-6th line, followed by StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor, where the team finished 7-8th.

The club’s management clearly wanted better results, so they decided to change the composition again. The reshuffle started with swap roles: ah fu moved up to the 5th position and LaNm took over his role.

However, this does not mean that the changes had much impact on the state of affairs within the team. After a bit of a shuffle, the RNGs finished 9th-16th at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major China Open Qualifier, and 5th-8th at the ESL One Birmingham 2019 China Open Qualifier. Despite this, the team still managed to qualify for the 2019 OGA Dota PIT Minor.

With the very low number, RNG showed an “average” result. The team finished 7th-8th, which brought more changes in the composition. In April, Flyby joins the team and Super will sit in the coaching seat.

It seems that the change is not too global to change the results, but for RNG it proved to be extremely necessary and successful.

After the replacement, RNGs take the 2nd place at EPICENTER Major 2019 China Qualifier, which gives them a place for the Moscow Major itself. After that, the team takes the first line on WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Dire Asia.

In June, the team competes at the EPICENTER Major 2019, where they finish 9th-12th. Oddly enough, they are in no hurry to replace RNG. The team in the same composition is sent to play the qualifiers for The International 2019, where, to everyone’s surprise, they become the winner, earning a ticket to the first tournament of The International series in the club’s history.

However, the championship itself also proved to be pretty good for RNG. The team entered the TOP-8, losing in the elimination match to Team Liquid, which later finished second.

However, the management of the club did not like the performance in the debut of The International. After that, the next reshuffle in the RNG began. In September, LaNm and ah fu left the team and dogf1ghts and Fenrir took their place. The team played in this composition until November 2019.

2020 – Season and online
2020 started for RNG from the second place on WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020. later the team will win the qualification for ESL One Los Angeles 2020 and finish 4th in China Dota2 Professional League – Season 1.

This was the case at China Dota2 Professional League, – Season 2, ESL One Birmingham 2020 – Online: China, BEYOND EPIC: China, OGA Dota PIT S2: China.

After the seemingly successful tournaments, the RNGs have “grown” significantly. The team finished 7th-8th at the DPL-CDA Professional League – Season 2, 5th-6th at the China Dota2 Pro Cup – Season 1, and OGA Dota PIT S3: China.

At the end of 2020, the team finished 7th to 8th in the CDA-FDC Professional Championship – Season 2, 7th in the China Dota2 Pro Cup – Season 2, and 5th to 6th in the OGA Dota PIT S4: China. Also at the end of the year, RNG unveiled a new roster that included the following:Setsu

  • Flying through
  • FelixCiaoBa
  • Super

In the updated list, RNGs became champions of the Huya Winter Invitatational but failed to qualify for the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit: S1 – China Closed Qualifier.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.

Dota 2 is – unlike other big titles like – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
