Team information:
OG is a multi-gaming organization that was founded in late 2015. Originally the team was represented by a Dota 2 squad, but in 2019 a CSGO squad was signed. OG is the absolute record holder for the number of major trophies won in Dota 2 tournaments. We present to you the history of branding.
First impression
Technically, OG appeared in August 2015, but then the players appeared under a different tag. In August 2015, N0tail and Fly created their own team called (monkey) Business after the failure of the then Team Secret at The International 2015. After 2 months of existence, the (monkey) business turned into OG. It happened on October 31, 2015.
First composition
The first lineup of OG included both experienced players who migrated from HoN to Dota and promising young artists. The top 5 OG included:
- N0tail
- Fly
- Cr1t-
- Wonder-
- Moonbender
From the first games it became clear that there is still a more competitive team in the European region.
First results
While still under the (monkey) business banner, the five, led by N0tail, managed to qualify for the first Major tournament in the history of Dota, which became the 2015 Frankfurt Major. The Place.
In November 2015, the team played in the 2015 Frankfurt Major, where they won sensationally, defeating Team Secret 3: 1 in the final. Later that month, the team solidified its success by taking 1st place in the fourth DreamLeague – Season .
At the end of 2015, OG appeared in several more tournaments, including The Defense – Season 5, where the team placed 2nd, and The Summit 4, where the team placed 4th.
2016 did not start well for OG. In January, the team finished 3rd at the MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Winter, and in March, it finished 7th-8th at the Shanghai Major 2016, followed by a disastrous performance at the Dota Pit League – Season 4.
However, OG started to gain results as early as April 2016. In April, the team finished 4th in StarLadder i-League Invitational – Season 1, 3rd in EPICENTER 2016, and later 1st in DreamLeague – Season 5.
In June, the team becomes a two-time major tournament champion after winning the Manila Major 2016, and after becoming the champion of another major tournament – ESL One Frankfurt 2016. Prior to TI 2016, the team finished 2nd at Summit 5, becoming one of the Die Main candidates to win The International 2016, but the championship itself proved to be a complete failure for OG.
The team failed miserably at TI6, finishing 9th to 12th. After such an unsuccessful performance at the main championship of the year, Miracle-, Cr1t, and MoonMeander left the team. Ana, s4 and JerAx came to replace them in OG. Looking forward, we can say with confidence that OG’s replacements were only beneficial.
After updating almost the entire lineup, leaving only the backbone of N0tail and Fly, the team played with new colors.
After TI 2016, OG finished 3rd at Mars Dota 2 League 2016 Autumn and later finished second at The Summit 6. In November 2016, the team won Elimination Mode 2.0 and then won its third major tournament times the Boston Major 2016.
After that, the team played in a series of tournaments where they also showed confident results. However, the highlight of OG was its performance at The Kiev Major 2017, where the final match against VP proved to be one of the most spectacular confrontations of that year and brought OG its fourth championship. Thus, OG became the first team to win two major tournaments in a row and the first team to win the championship in four major tournaments.
However, the team still did not fare well with The International. At TI 7, the team again finished 7th-8th, which was not the “Kings of the Majors.”
Dota 2
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
