Team Information:

Ninjas in Pyjamas is one of the oldest and most famous multi- games in Europe. It was founded before Esports began in 1999 and has managed to survive closure, reopening and renaming ever since. Ninjas in Pyjamas roster has been listed in most of the most popular disciplines, including Counter-Strike, , , Rainbow Six Siege and so on.

Today we invite you to familiarize yourself with the history of the Dota 2 division.

impression

NiP was never in a hurry to enter the professional scene in Dota 2. Therefore, the first roster of the then already known organization appeared only in 2015 in a mob from Valve. Then the LAJONS team was under the auspices of NiP, including:

  • Epoch
  • Apemother
  • Jonassomfan
  • Handsken
  • Sealkid

The first results were pretty good, but at that time European Dota 2 was going through a difficult phase.

First results and first resolution

As mentioned earlier, NiP’s performance was pretty decent in the early days after LAJONS signing. In the debut i-League – Season 2 tournament for the team, NiP finished in 7th-8th place. After that, they finished third in the StarLadder StarSeries – Season 11 in the same month and later won the Alienware Area 51 Dota 2 Cup.

Although the tournament series turned out to be good, NiP decided to make adjustments to the squad. Instead of Apemother, Ninjas in Pajamas now plays Limmp. With this roster, NiP became the winner of Esportal Dota 2 League Invitational Tournament 3 and finished 3rd in the Major All Stars Dota 2 Tournament.

In the next year, NiP has shown a stable play. In April, the team takes 3rd place at joinDOTA MLG Pro League – Season 1, and 4th place at Dota 2 Champions Leauge – Season 5 on May 3 and 4 at ASUS Play It Cool Dota 2 Invitational.

Summer 2015 is going well for NiP. The team wins JoinDOTA MLG Pro League – Season 2 and Esports SM 2015 in June. In the same month, the Ninjas finish in the third DreamLeague – Season 3 line. In July, the team takes the fourth line in the third – Season of Dota Pit League.

In September, NiP will finish in the 3-4th line in the Alienware Summer’s End Cup and take 3rd place in the 2015 World Cyber Arena – European Pro Qualifiers.

However, with the arrival of October, the results deteriorate. The team finishes 5th-8th in Dota 2 Champions League – Season 6, 8th in DreamLeague – Season 4, and 5th-12th in Defense – Season 5.

NiP’s recent performances do not please the club’s management and therefore take radical measures. In November 2015, NiP announced the dissolution of the Dota 2 division and retirement from professional Dota. They will return just one year later.

NiP’s second attempt

The new roster was formed in early 2017. Then it included:

  • Epoch
  • qojqva
  • Trixi
  • H4nn1
  • syndereN

However, this did not help to radically change the situation. Throughout the year NiP tried to find their game, but the attempts were in vain. During the year, the best success for the new NiP squad was 4th in the Over Power Cup No. 1, and the only prizes were $1,000 earned by NiP in the Betway Arena King of the Hill Show No. 4.

In June 2017, NiP said goodbye to the Dota 2 squad again.

Attempt number three

NiP decided to return to the esports scene in 2018. Then they signed the list of ppd champion of The International 2015. it included:

  • As
  • Fata
  • 33
  • Saksa
  • ppd

With this squad, NiP won the GG.Bet Invitational – Season 1, finished 3-4th at the Maincast Autumn Brawl, and 9-10th at ESL One Hamburg 2018.

In November, NiP participated in the first major tournament in the history of Dota 2 divisions. This was the Kuala Lumpur Major, where Ninja finished in 4th place. However, it is worth noting that the 2017 International Champion, MinD_ContRoL, played as a substitute in NiP.

After 33 returned to the main team, the results returned to their previous indicators. At the end of 2018, NiP finished 7th-8th in the Chongqing Major Europe Qualifier and 2nd in the Bucharest Minor Europe Qualifier.

The year 2019 started with some pretty positive notes. In January, the team finished 3-4th at WePlay! Dota 2 Winter Madness as well as 4th place in Bucharest Minor. Back in February, the team took the 2nd line on WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness and 5-6th place at ESL One Katowice 2019.

In March, NiP took 1st place on WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Shining, but later failed in the 11th DreamLeague – Season , losing to EG there and finishing 9th-12th.

NiP was able to redeem themselves at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019, which they won in April 2019. Later, they placed 5th to 6th in the MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

In May 2019, Ninjas in Pajamas finished 9th-10th at ESL One Birmingham 2019 and won the StarLadder imbaTV Dota 2 Minor – Season 2 in June.

At EPICENTER Major 2019, NiP’s luck turned away and they finished 9th-12th, but compared to the result at The International 2019, it was still good.

At The International 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas were the second team to fail to win a map and were eliminated from the championship before the group stage. After such a loud failure, changes in the composition followed.

Fata joined the team in September, followed by Skiter, Gunnar, Universe and Biver. Towards the end of the year, TANNER replaced Skiter and with this lineup NiP qualified for WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020.

2020 and a new sunset

At the Minor in Bukovel, NiP finished 7th-8th, after which the next changes followed. Gunnar and Biver left the team and Daxak and Lelis took their place.

NiP played with this roster until April 2020, when Universa and PPD left the team. Following that, the entire roster was disbanded and the SoNNeikO team took its place. The new NiP roster includes:

  • Charlie
  • Supream ^
  • SabeRLighT-
  • EpochSoNNeikO

With this lineup, NiP managed to play several online tournaments. The most successful ones can be considered as WePlay! Pushka League S1: Division 1, where NiP finished 5th-6th, and OGA Dota PIT – Season 1: Europe/CIS, where NiP also finished 5th-6th.

In July 2020, SoNNeikO, who occupied the captain’s spot, was removed from the team. Cr1t- temporarily took his place. With him, NiP finished in 7th-8th place at the OGA Dota PIT S2: Europe/CIS.

Later the place of Cr1t- was taken by Mischa. With him NiP finished 11th-12th in the OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division and 4th in the OMEGA League: Europe Divine DIvision.

In September, NiP finished 3rd in BTS Pro Series – Season 3: Europe/CIS, 9-11 in ESL One Germany 2020, and 3-4 in DOTA Summit 13 Online: Europe & CIS.

The last tournament for NiP was the EPIC League qualifier, where Ninja finished 6th-7th in pajamas. In November 2020, the management of NiP announced the closure of the European division Dota 2.

Organization and awards

The CEO of NiP is Heicham Chahin, and the captain’s spot in the latest lineup was filled by Misha. NiP has worked with brands such as Xtrft, Betway and Republic of Gamers.

Since the inception of the Dota 2 division, the rosters have earned over $1,000,000 in prize money.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.

Dota 2 is – unlike other big titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
