Biography

Alexey “Solo” Berezin is a legendary player in the CIS region. Solo has experienced many difficult moments in his career, but he managed to overcome them and today he is the best captain in the CIS and one of the most respected people in in general. We present you Solo’s development as a sportsman.

Start career

Alexey’s journey to the top of eSports began with visiting gaming clubs. There he showed a high level of play among his peers. It is not surprising that Alexei later chose eSports as a profession.

The first team Solo played for was the Russian club Moscow Five. The player stayed there for 2 months, from September 2012 to November of the same year. After that he played in Eclypsia team, but a month later he moved to United Sexy Boys Mix, where he also stayed for no more than a month.

In January 213 he joined XX5 Gaming, where he stayed for a week. Later he joined Ice Clibers, 3D!Clan and RoX. It was in this club that Alexei got involved in the “322” scandal.

322 and beyond

In 2013, as a member of the RoX club, the player took part in a match against zRage at the Ice tournament, where the player showed an extremely unusual gameplay for him, which aroused suspicion. This suspicion turned out to be justified. After an investigation, the organizers of the tournament determined that Alexei had intentionally “leaked” the game. He bet $100 on the zRage team he was playing against. The coefficient for the last was 3.22.

Initially, Solo was given a lifetime ban from competitive games. The player’s career was practically destroyed, but with the help of CIS organizations and media personalities, the ban was eased to up to one year. After serving his sentence, Alexei learned his lesson and began to do his best.

The first team Solo played for after the ban was Virtus.Pro team. The player stayed there for a month, after which he switched to Poseidon.

In the period from November 2013 to April 2015 Solo played for 4 teams, but could not achieve significant success anywhere. The first success appeared only after his transfer to Vega Squadron.

Vega Squadron and the first success

Solo joined the Dota 2 squad of Vega Squadron in April 2015. The team showed good results in the region and later on the world stage. In October 2015, Vega won the ESL One New York Championship 2015, where they defeated Team Secret. Unfortunately, the success was short-lived. The team failed to qualify for The International 2016, and in August 2016 Solo stopped being part of the Vega squadron. Alexey’s next club was Virtus.Pro.

Virtus.Pro and personal achievements

Solo joined Virtus.Pro in August 2016. Almost immediately, the team became one of the best in the region. Under Solo’s leadership, the team won small tournaments and reached its first major in April 2017. At the 2017 Kyiv Major, the team stopped one step away from the championship. The team entered the upcoming The International 2017 as favorites. At the championship itself, the Bears showed an excellent level of play, but could not keep up with the eventual world champions Team Liquid. The team finished their performances in 5th to 6th place. After TI7, VP began to play with renewed vigor. The next – Season was all about VP.

In October 2017, they won ESL One Hamburg 2017. In February 2018, they became champions of ESL One Katowice 2018 and a month later they won the Bucharest Major. In May 2018, they won the third tournament under the auspices of ESL – ESL One Birmingham 2018. Virtus.Pro was the absolute favorite for the upcoming TI8. Unfortunately for the Bears fans, the team couldn’t handle the pressure and finished the tournament in 5th-6th place.

In November 2018, VP won the Kuala Lumpur Major, after which the team returned. However, the team returned to action with the start of the new year. They finished 2nd at The Chongqing Major, DreamLeague – Season 11, and 3rd at Epicenter Major 2019. At the TI9 VP, they entered the race for the third time as one of the main contenders to win. However, the team fell short of expectations and left the championship in 9th to 12th place. After the defeat, the team was reshuffled, but Solo remained the captain of VP.

During his career Alexey Solo earned over $1,796,000. Thanks to his contribution, the CIS region again became the strongest in the 2017-2018 – Season .

Dota 2

Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game micro-transactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
