Zheng “MidOne” Yek Nai is one of the best and most experienced players in Dota 2. Almost since the beginning of his career, MidOne has played for Tier 1 teams, always showing an understanding of the game and a high level of skill in different playing positions. We bring to your attention MidOne’s path to becoming a professional Esports player.

Carier Start

Like many professional Esports players, MidOne started his journey in the industry long before he joined the first organization. Since childhood, the player attended computer clubs where he showed a high level of play. In April 2016, he became the first player to surpass the 8,000 MMR mark on the South Asian server.

The first official club MidOne played for was the Fnatic organization. The Malaysian joined the team in December 2015. After joining Fnatic, he showed good results almost immediately. The highlight of his performance for the organization was the 4th place at The International 2016, after which he was noticed by the European organization Team Secret. Subsequently, MidOne became a player of this club.

Team Secret

MidOne joined Team Secret in August 2016 after The International 6. In the first months the team showed mediocre results, but after a while they turned into a real TIR-1 team.

The first big result for Team Secret was the second place at ESL One Hamburg 2017, followed by two championships at DreamLeague – Season 8 and DreamLeague – Season 9, and the team was awarded as the favorite of The International 2018. Despite this, the team was unable to show its maximum at TI itself and finished in 5th-6th place. This did not break Team Secret and already in October 2018 they became champions of ESL One Hamburg 2018, followed next by second place in the Kuala Lumpur Major in November 2018.

In January 2019, the MidOne team won the Chogqing Major and in May 2019, they won the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. The team approached The International 2019 as one of the major contenders for victory. At TI9, MidOne and the team reached the semifinals of the lower bracket but failed to beat eternal rival Liquid. The team took the 4th line. The TI9 performance was MidOne’s last significant performance for Secret. After three years with the club, MidOne left. The next team for the Malaysian was OG’s outstanding lineup.

OG and personal awards

MidOne became an OG player in January 2020. With them, he finished second in BLAST Bounty Hunt, third in OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: Europe & CIS as well as OGA Dota PIT S2: Europe Cis.

MidOne has earned over $1,737,000 during his career. He also owns a Mercedes for winning the ESL One Series Championship.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game micro-transactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
