Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen is one of the best representatives of the Finnish school of . Start of the career

Like many other esports players, Lasse started his career long before he joined a professional organization. Even as a child, MATUMBAMAN loved computer games, which later helped him build his career.

The first club MATUMBAMAN played for was the team Veni, Vidi, Vici. Lasse played there from June 2014 to September of the same year. In September 2014 he became a member of the Finnish team 4 Anchors + Sea Captain. There he gained his first popularity. After playing for 4 Anchors for almost a year, he joined 5Jungz, which later became Team Liquid.

Team Liquid and first success

MATUMBAMAN joined Team Liquid in October 2015 and took it to the next level. The first big result for MATUMBAMAN in Liquid was the 2nd place in Shanghai Major 2016 in March 2016. After 3 months, he and the team won the first major championship. In May, the team won the EPICENTER 2016, and a month later they were silver medalists in the Manila Major 2016.

In February 2017, Liquid won the StarLadder i- StarSeries – Season 3 and 4 months later at EPICENTER 2017, the team entered the upcoming The International 2017 as the clear favorite.

In August 2017, MATUMBAMAN became the TI7 champion with Liquid. After becoming World Champion, the level of play dropped a bit, but by December 2017, he and the team finished second in the 8th DreamLeague – Season .

In June 2016, they won the China Dota2 Supermajor. At the TI2018, the team finished in 4th place. However, the good results did not help MATUMBAMAN stay in the lineup. In June 2019, he joined Chaos EC.

With Chaos EC, MATUBMAMAN made it to TI 2019, but the team crashed there, finishing 17th and 18th. At the end of The International, MATUMBAMAN left the team.

Team Secret became Massee’s next team. With the change of venue, MATUMBAMAN’s playing style also changed. He started playing at the highest level again. After joining Team Secret in January 2019, the team won the DreamLeague – Season 13 Major tournament in January 2020. With the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Team Secret dominated the competitive scene. MATUMBAMAN became champion of 5 tournaments in a row with the club and also held the record for the number of games won in a row. Lasse has earned over $3,702,000 in his career.
